Dealerships in Canada are all in on a network. They can call other dealerships and bring in what they want at wholesale (just like they would give your mom for her vehicle), then mark up the price of the vehicle you wanted to buy. I just went through this when my g/f bought her Honda civic.
When my buddy was selling his libby for a Fit (I know WTF!?), the Honda dealership was pressuring him to upgrade his selected Fit to a sport model when they didn't have the model he originally wanted. The catch was that the Dodge dealership contacted Honda and wanted his Libby when he traded it in to Honda because they could have sold it the same day. He didn't want to spend the extra cash on a sport model and waited a month for Honda to get the model he wanted in.
I bought his Libby a week later. And since I knew what he paid for it, I was able to get it for $500 over wholesale

.
If they really want an old libby, tell them to go through their network. It's not as if the libby's are rare!
