Yea, Im glad I only get 18mpg. I would get a separate job just to pay for gas so I could drive my Jeep if I had too. But I think its funny to see those soccer moms in their short buses with two kids and 10 cell phones. I do not put myself in the same class as an SUV driver. |

But I think its funny to see those soccer moms in their short buses with two kids and 10 cell phones. I do not put myself in the same class as an SUV driver. agreed. theres a difference between driving something huge that gets bad MPG for NO REASON and driving one thats pretty small and doesnt do too bad because you want it to get you the places that a lesser vehicle cannot. my fiances dad owns 2 brand new Lincoln Navigators that he drives around town all the time. he has a decent sized family, but seriously.... i dont want to come off as a tree hugger, but this stuff is important. some people think that you should have to get a permit and have a specific reason for needing an SUV. thats just ridiculous and that kind of restrictive behavior is not what this country is about. but, personally, i only drive my Jeep when i need it, or dont have a choice. i pretty much drive my fiances 97 escort all the time because it gets literally double the MPG... my $.02 |

December 2007 issue of 4Wheel Drive and Sport Utility has a great Jeep ad "They invented "SUV" because they cant call them a Jeep" Have fun out there! |

i have never classified mine as an suv. Like when people say "oh i left my keys in my car or "my toolbox in the truck" I always say jeep like "oh i forgot my cellphone in my jeep! oh well, now the gf cant track me down" One of the very few if only cars i hear people call it by their brand name. |

Ok ok, so we drive jeeps, but what class would your jeep fall under? Would it not be SUV?? I know even my Wrangler, which some would argue is the only REAL jeep out there still being made, is classified as an SUV... |

Thats exactly how it is. Im taking the jeep. Not im taking the truck like the silverado is refered to. And not im taking the car like the mazda. Its the jeep always has been with the three ive owned. Always will be. |

i dont think the issue here is whether or not Jeeps are SUVs or if the drivers are technically SUV drivers. That cannot be challenged. Of course Jeeps are SUVs, everyone knows that! What I was agreeing with jeepster over is more about classifying yourself as a "stereotypical, doesnt use the SUV for anything but driving the kids to soccer practice SUV driver" |

When ever I have filled out a form that asks what class of vehicle I drive I always check "other" and then write Jeep.Even had my insurance agent change the classification of my vehicle from SUV to Jeep on my policy. If anything I would classify a Jeep as a RV and not a SUV. |

What self-respectin' playa don't drive an Escalade or H2? Gots to have room for the entourage! I hear ya, jerbacher. KJ mileage isn't not much worse than a typical minivan, and no one wants to ban those. On the other hand, I regret the number of people I see driving large SUVs alone in urban settings. To me, that is wasteful. I consider myself environmentally conscious. I pay Rays' Trash Service to haul away my jars, plastic bottles, aluminum cans, tin foil, and newspaper every two weeks for recycling. We reuse the plastic and paper bags from the grocery store -- what we can't resuse gets recyceld. My wife and I write our fair share of checks to conservation and wildlife groups, so I think I'm doing my share of pennance for driving a small SUV. No guilt here. |

My insurance company lists my CRD Liberty as a "Diesel Wagon" haha. I don't complain because it puts me in the lowest rate category they had |
