It sounded like thin metal rubbing something so I replaced my brake pads (the metal on the outer pad was hanging down. I thought it went away but there is still a sound. I put the truck in 4wd and it the noise became much louder. I think a bearing is worn or something.
What else could it be?
Can I take the front end apart, disconnect the driveshaft and still drive safely?
What do you guys recommend.

Its relatively easy to remove your front driveshaft and see if it may be causing the sound. Just make sure you mark how the shaft lined up with the companion flanges before you remove the bolts with 8mm heads. After you remove it take the Liberty on a short drive.
