Front Bumpers and what to expect?

Okay, I know this has been asked before. But rather than try the search feature, which we all know is less than accurate, I am going to ask it again.

If or WHEN I get around to hanging an ARB bull bar on the fron of my 07 stock limited KJ, What can I expect in the way of suspension issues. Do I need to do a clevis lift right off the bat to counter act the weight of the bumper?

How bad, if at all, will it effect the suspension?

I plan an Old Man Emu lift in the future, just not sure when the wallet will allow.

well considering you are adding a chunk of steel up there and also since ARB suggests Heavy Duty OME springs, and we know that even Rustys will sag under time with an ARB, then yes you will need to put on a clevis and add the OME Heavy Dutys ASAP!

Thanbks for the input. So Will the OME springs work with the stock shocks or am I going to have to do it all? Everything is just so new, only 7,000 miles on those stock shocks & Springs.

I would say you could get away with it for a while, since the suspension is still fairly new. You could see where it sits at after the install, add some clevis lift to it if needed now or a little later. Since when you do the OME lift you would be replacing the struts as well ( or I would upgrade them as well at that time) then you could go for a little while depending on the miles you drive and the roads you take, etc :wink:

Mines done well but I did the lift with the Heavy Duty OMEs getting ready for the ARB right away. Some one in Boston (I think) was going to do an ARB with stock suspension, I will try and see who that was and how his has went so far

Thanks for the input.

I have a line on a used bull bar for an 05-07 and i want to go ahead and grab it. It will need some parts from ARB and It will (as i always intended to do) be color matched to my black KJ, or atleast not the grey.

That will keep it from getting mounted imediately, but i know I will want it on there asap.

Please let me know what you find out from that other guy.

I also have a Gecko Roof Rack coming from RL so I am tapping the wallet pretty good right now.

GOD i am having fun with this KJ!

Yep got mine used as well was already black so that was great, check with Seth to see if he has what you need. I had went through All Js for a couple of brackets but ended up talking to Seth several times and got the parts that I needed!
ARBs gets lots of looks and comments for sure. Check out the recent Midwest Livingston run pictures and you can get a look at mine. Only one there with an ARB so easy to spot! :wink:

A lot of good pictures on from both Saturdays and Sundays run. Oh they are also great placces to sit, a place for your coffee, tools whatever! :wink:

The Gecko rack will look great on there for sure, get some pics as soon as you mount it

MOUNT it, hell i gotta pay for it first.

It is in the works and Marty is SWAMPED.

I hope to get it soon, but He needs more money from me first.

I am getting it with light tabs on the front along with a cb antenna tab.

Sholud be cool and a whole lot better that ths factory piece of you know what...
