Do the front and rear axles take the same gear lube? |

I would use 75W-140 in both just to be safe... You can use the standard 75w-90 in the rear if you don't do a lot of towing |

In the 2002 Jeep service manual it lists 75W-140 for both front and rear open differentials |

If you have trac-loc you need to add a little "friction modifier" to the rear diff. |

I use 75-140 in the front and the rear. After first rebuilding my differential (and installing a DTT) and using 75-90 my dif would get so hot I could smell the gear lube from inside the truck. Switching to 75-140 has made that disappear. |

The 04-06 shop manual says 80w90 for the front and 75w90 or 75w140 for the rear depending on if you do heavy towing or off-roading. Don't know why it says 80w90 on the first one, that could just be a typo. Anyone know if there's a particular reason why they don't say to use the 140 in the front? |

If you are planning on an OTC (over the counter purchase) than get a quality synthetic. Mobil 1 if you like or another brand will be fine... 75-90 will be fine. Now go out there and get smelly! |

That is a fine plan then... I use Mobil1 as well. Works pretty OK as long as you still change it under the recommended intervals |

RP, thats a new one to me, i look into it. For this one its going to be mobile one, budget limits me lol. So heres the break down: Engine oil, mobil 1 synthetic 5w-30 with a wix oil filter Front diff synthetic 75w-140 1.2 litres Rear diff synthetic 75w-90 2 litres New pcv valve Ac delco Platinum spark plugs. And a wix air filter I will have the shop check the transfer case and tranny and see what they think, if they think it should be done then that will be done also. This sums up my tune up, sound about right? |

Though what does pints mean? like how much diff fluid should i buy? If you wish now that you have all the specifcations just PM me. I will be happy to help. Infact I recently coresponed with another L.O.S.T. member after some disscusion I sent him the equilivant of "WAR AND PEACE" of information. The Vehical Specification as I have already supplied , but each and every item listed on the spec sheet with my AMSOIL actual cost. I will admit this can lead to sensory overload. But I'm a firm believer in there is no such thing as too much information. I appoligise to my bretheren for Hi-Jacking this thead for Advertising a product I beg your forgiveness. Thank-You LEAD |

New pcv valve Ac delco Platinum spark plugs. And a wix air filter sound about right? The only thing I'd recommed different would be the spark plugs. Stick with the factory original plugs if you can. There's been postings on people trying different plugs with limited success. I believe the stock plugs are just an NKG copper plug so there shouldn't be too much of a price change. |

FWIW, 11 gear lubes outperformed royal purple in a recent independant white paper study of gear oils. Mobil 1 gear oil was 2nd to Amsoil Severe Gear in those same tests so as gear oils go it is pretty decent though its total score (Mobil = 71) was almost double that of Amsoil (38 ) (lower score equals better overall performance). If you want to read the ton of info on the testing: http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/vie ... hp?t=24799 http://www.amsoil.com/lit/g2457.pdf |
