Any on else ever smell a musty oder from their air vents?

Is there a drain out at the bottom of the air box?

this was constantly plugged on my wrangler, If that was plugged, then the moisture from the rain / AC unit would cause a musty smell.

I tried running the heater on high - this does clean up the oder, but it returns the next day

Any thoughts?

And NO I do not eat beans the night before ;)

There is a drain for the air intake box. Another thing you could do is get a bottle that will mist, not just spray. Put some bleach in it turn on your fan to circulate inside air, spray a mist into the defroster vent. That will get the bleach into the tubing and kill any mildew. Just be careful where the mist will go. If you don't want to risk using bleach get a fungicide and do the same thing.

A simple solution would be wear a full gas mask while you drive...

The drain sticks out of the firewall on the passengers side. Very easy to see.

It works best to spray whatever your spraying from the outside where it sucks the air in under the cowl. Just make sure you have the air on outside.

Thanx for all the posts, I'll dig into this tomorrow after class - I think I got some mud or something plugging the drain, the photo will help alot on getting a wire in to ring it out.

Mine actually plugged up with some type of algae, the inner diameter of the drain tube is quite small, so it does not take much to clog it. I just blew it out with a puff of air, so it should be good for another couple years.

Jeepjeepster, I'm a tiny bit confused by your pic. Is it box number one in this pic below, #2 or am I way off altogether?

#1 is a bolt holding the valve pan on.

#2 is the drain which comes out of the fire-wall. :)

thanks. and, apparently, I need a new monitor. That bolt looks like a piece of bent tubing to me.
