I was wondering if anyone could explain to me why my tire pressure light is blinking. I have had it go on solid when my tires got hot, but recently is blinks at me for about 10 seconds every 15 minutes (guesstimate). I looked in the manual but it doesn't mention a blinking light, only the solid one.

I believe blinking light refers to the spare tire - at least, that's what mine means, and the EVIC says "Spare Tire Pressure Low" to accompany it.

The TPM notices if the pressure is low OR if the pressure in any of the 5 tires differs from the others...so even if all 4 on the ground are fine, if the spare is a different pressure, it'll blink. That reminds me, I need to put some air in my spare to make mine stop blinking

Just check the Air in all of your tires... for mine its 33PSI... and when they are even 30 PSI that thing blinks every 10 to 15 mins.

I'll bet you find one thats a little low...
Let us know what u find

Mike

Great! I willl check it today. The reason why I didn't before is because Jiffy Lube claimed they had filled them up appropriately. No worries, I shall check it today and notify y'all.

They probably did...and they didn't inflate your spare, and that's why the libby is angry :-P

I have a renegade so I don't think it is the spare, as there is nothing hooked up to it.

I've got a Renny and that problem is worst with mine.
I have an electronic PSI reader that I use at work and I adapted it to read tire presure. I Know for a fact that my 4 tires are at 33 psi but for some crazy reason the overhead sensor tells me otherwise. I re-trained it twice myself and on my last maintenance the stealer did it again. Same, no changes - sometimes I get the yellow light on the dashboard and sometimes not. - as long as my manual pressure reader tells me I'm ok, I trust it 100%. Spare tire sensor is crazy too

In my 05 manual it states that there is a malfunction in the system if it blinks ten times every ten minutes. This is on the dash on mine, I dont have the overhead console.

The dash is where it shows up. Hmm, maybe I better call the dealership.

I believe it was an option on 2004 on the overhead but I think is standard in 05s.

I am having the same problem with my 05 Renegade that started last Thursday evening after work. I checked all the tires and they were all the same psi. We just had some cooler weather come through and I thought that might be some of it but it still keeps blinking & Chiming only on start up then dosent do it anymore while driving.

Ok....
This is what I did.... lowered the pressure on the spare and stated the Jeep. Couple of chimes, then a yellow signal on the dash and a message on the overhead. Then chime stops but yellow light is lit all the time on the dashboard - overhead control, just pres c/t and message is gone
Went back up on spare tire pressure, both chimes and yellow light are gone. No need to re-train tire presure reader on overhead console.
I do not know how would a vehicle with no overhead console can re-train tire pressure reader.
Hope it helps

A couple of weekends ago, while it was still rather warm in Phoenix, I drove up to Flagstaff, about 6000ft higher in altitude and 20 to 30F cooler. The whole time in Flag, the silly low tire pressure dash light would flash about 10 times when starting my 05 Renny. At one point, the light came on and stayed on. The Left front, left rear and spare all at 34psi, the right front and rear at 37psi set by a shop that had just done an oil change. So I set them all to 33psi and the solid light went out, but the blinking on start didn't stop until I was back in Phoenix. Go figure!
