Try to call (I don't know if they have e-mail) the Ranger District(s) that cover the NF you're interested in. They'll be able to tell you if a specific Forest Road is open to motorized traffic and/or a list of all the Forest Roads that are.

in addition, if there is a NFS office near where you want to wheel, stop in and talk to them. The people there, in my opinion, have been helpful in telling me about conditions of the trails in their district. On the NFS.Gov website there is also a interactive map feature.

Go to the local forest office or the office closest to where you want to wheel. Stop in and talk to them. They usually have maps of all the roads. As long as you let them know that you're a responsible wheeler, they'll be willing to help you out.

Sometimes their maps are not complete so it wouldn't hurt to take a USGS 7.5 minute topo map in with you and let them mark it up for you.

I know the Ouachita Nat'l Forest in Arkansas has gravel and access roads for Jeeps and other capable rigs to traverse...

Man, THAT is a cool map! Thanks for sharing that link! It helps the speed a lot to go to the "Transportation" layer group and uncheck "Roads". Sure goes a lot faster, and still shows the main roads.

I like how the mouse cursor is tracked with Long/Lat.

But I tried to print a map and it brings up a "Create Printable Map" box, but I can't figure out where it creates the map. Anyone been able to create a map? I also tried exporting the information and it said it exported it, but I can't find it anywhere on my computer. (shrug)
