Well I took the jeep into get the oil changed and had them put in the 25,000 mile oil and filter. Total came to 70.94 and I was quoted around $55 for just the oil so add in the labor and filter. I fig hey why not try this stuff the way I see it is 25 bucks an oil change per 3000 miles. 25,000/3000 is to keep it easy about 8 oil changes. Fig $25*8= $200 bucks so in the long wrong it pays for its self. I will get back with more info when I put some more miles on. So far so good I'm impressed.

Also am looking at changing all the fluids to Amsoil but don't have all the cash right now hahaha

I'm sure 25k is possible with grandmom, but I'll personally be changing the filter and topping off at 10k, then doing a full dump at 20.

I had the whole system, all the oils and lubes, bypass filter, air cleaner and filter on two of my trucks. After seeing years and years of oil analysis with zero problems I quit bothering with it. One was 15 years old, and 277,000 hard miles on the truck when I sold it. Changed oil every 100,000 miles. Changed normal filter every 6 months, changed bypass every year. The truck never used oil, never leaked much either. The other is 15 years old, 255,000 miles and still going strong.

Ditto above. Go to bobistheoilguy and look under the uoa category to see how long people have gone w/ amsoil. Personally, I would not trust any oil over 10k. If you change it yourself with oil from JJ you could also save $.
Good luck!

WOW, ive read that a lot of you guys run amsoil but i never did the research on it. Can you really go that long without a change. Guess im used to the 3000 mile deal. Thats pretty crazy.

o yes i could have saved about 20 bucks JJ had all the oil and filter shipped to me for around 55-60 bucks. I'm not sure about the 25,000 mile mark haha it just seems so far. But who knows maybe its true maybe its not. Even if I change at 10,000 it still ends up a little bit better on price. Only time will tell I guess haha

I consider all Jeeps to be in the Severe Service category unless they are strictly used on road for long highway trips w/ little traffic idling or short trips so up to 15,000 miles is what I suggest unless you want to experiment w/ used oil analysis to find the sweet spot for your vehicle.

My extended warranty has a scheduled service plan that must be adhered to or my warranty gets voided so no superduper synthetics for me. Compare the cost savings of the Amsoil against the cost of replacing an AC unit or a tcase (both things previous warranties have paid for) and I think I'd be foolish to not follow the scheduled service.

Impressive numbers though.....

i tried using amsoil for a while in my motor and i hated it it was the worst performing synthitic i have ever used. An then saying it can do 25kis bs for anyone other than a grandma. I buy my vehicles to drive and drive hard. I do take good care of them though. Sooner than required service; all the stuff that even anal people forget. End of story i wasnt very impressed at all. Id go with mobil1, royal pruple, or havoline. Ive had a lot bwtter luck with those than anything else. So far im sticking to the mobil1 it seems to be doing the best job.

It would be great if everyone at some point did used oil analysis on the various oils just to see what oil the 3.7 really likes. Although we would probably come up with an oil that looked super, and then their manufacturer would up and change the formulation....
I think any of the SM oils will have our engines lasting into the 200k range with good maintenance intervals. I think right now Penzoil platinum is the "flavor of the month" on bobistheoilguy, as everyone seems to be getting great used oil analysis on it. I am currently using mobil 1 truck and suv- 20$ at wall of china mart for the 5 quart container...

I'm a fan of Havoline GF4 at regular service intervals. Tons of moly in it.

What do you base

on? Did you do comparative UOA on it versus your other oil choices?

Amsoils 25,000 mile guarantee is based on lots of testing in the real world, their labs & independant labs. They wouldn't guarantee it if it didn't perform. Oh and they don't care how old You are or whether or not you have grandchildren to still offer their guarantee.

Humph. I've been using Amsoil for a while now, and I didn't know it was good for longer change intervals. I've been changing it every 5,000 kilometers. (3k miles) The recycle place has been getting some good stuff. :)

So DAk -- Looks like you have an 05 and should have an extended warranty -- unless you don't perform maintenance on schedule!

Amsoil Warranty Info
I don't know of another oil company that offers one at all. (have not looked real well though so maybe there is?)

If you have a failure and address it to Amsoil they have an indepenant lab do a thorough investigation as to what caused the failure if Amsoil is responsible for the failure you get a new engine. In 30 years I've never heard of a failure. Except for some real old timers who after the Korean war the was a new fangled oil in those new jet planes a artificial manmade oil to lube the new jet engine. Unfortunately some rhode scholars manged to get some of this new oil snuckoff the base. Well that synthetic was not made for automobile engines and surprise surprise surprice they burned up their car engines. It took another decade before Al Amatuzio finally after a lot of testing presented his Amsoil out to the public. Why not give a warranty, on a product thats not going to fail??? Do the math!!! :P

By the way one of the reason I know this as a fact is my Grand Father was one of the highly intelectuals who stole the oil and burnt up his cars engine
