Let's say I am stuck in deep mud or drove off the road.. I have no tow hooks or other tow package.. Can I just secure the rope to the front of the jeep where tow hooks are supposed to be mounted? I believe that's part of the unibody and should be fine with a small tug? (not the bumper) I have 04, so there is plenty of room there. |

I know what you mean, but the ones I saw got that loop at the end, right? So you can route the loop through that little space, turn it into a tie. That would make it semi-permanent.. since we would have to loop it all the way.. or isn't there any way to loop it? |

theres nothing really there or no way to attach anything with out a tow hook there, really no where that would be good to attach to with out the tow hook on the front |

Is it worth it to you to be lying in the mud/snow trying to tie some loops? Or would it be worth the $90.00 (less than 30 min install) to just be able to loop it around the hooks? |

nope, wouldnt do that at all. You would be better off getting pulled by the rear axle near the control arm or the lower control arm on the front. Although I do not recommend pulling on the lower control arms on the front, only a last resort. |

Yeah, I know guys.. I needed the tow hook, but i have no time now. That's why. And not tie it while in the mud.. tie it ahead of time and keep it there, maybe pull it to the window.. I don't know I am just thinking of emergency ways.. |

Well as far as an emergency situation goes, I think you know the answer. Of course, if the strap fits through there, why not? I already have tow hooks but if I were to do it all over (hooks came with the truck) I would have gotten D-Rings instead... |

Running a strap or rope through the openings would most likely result in the rope/strap slicing if any serious force were placed on it (like tugging). When I'm carrying my 16' canoe on top of the Jeep, I run a rope through the openings in the underside of the front (which is the area I think you're talking about). I used quality nylon docking rope to tie it off and, after 3 hours on the road, with nothing but 65MPH wind moving it around ever so slightly, the rope becomes more and more frayed. I trashed the first rope after three trips like that because I didn't have any faith in it's structural integrity. |

When i had my toyota pickup, I pulled my buddies wifes kj out of a heavily rutted mud puddle by hooking a tow strap to the front sway bar. Not the best idea but it was an emergency situation with water starting to come in the doors of the KJ. The KJ was hung up all 4 tires in the air. I did about 45min worth of full throttle tugs and finally got it out. No damage to the kj that i know of. I wouldn't do that to mine though. Go to the for sale section and order the front reciever hitch that Landy is making for us KJ owners. |

I don't want to trash other people when I am parking in tight spots, that's why I have been avoiding getting hooks or bull bars. I also stopped very close of cars in front of me when they stop short.. so that's another reason I have been avoiding those.. With those, there is no fender bender, there is BUMPER GONE! |

work great at least ARBs do had a friend who had one on a Wrangler and hit a buck at 65 , crap everywhere but no bumper damage and also remember somewhere saw a picture of a F250 I think with an ARB that hit a moose again no damage to speak of. I think it would take a great deal to bend an ARB hydedipin if you are parking that close or driving that close to people that a hitch would hit, sure are glad you are over there on the right coast somewhere. I feel more secure when someone pulls out in front of me and then you can see the look on their face as I come up behind them |

Dog eat dog.. sometimes you gotta squeeze in at the just right fit, I love the maneuverability of the KJ at tight spots. As I said second issue is in the slow traffic when they suddenly stop. I shouldnt be driving that close, but sometimes you have to when you don't want to get stuck at that 10 second green, 90 second red light!! Anyway, it's no excuse. And I just checked, looks like hooks stay down below the bumper, not sticking out that much, so it can be a good investment since they don't stick way out. |

Why would you want to smash up the body work on your liberty? That should be enough of a reason to get metal bumpers, hooks, and hitches protruding from the KJ. |

I put in my order for front receiver. I don't know how long it will take for it to be made and shipped, but then I will have my front hooks to sell. Watch parts for sale section. For the back you might want to buy a trailer hitch – not much more than a rear hook. |
