Battery was dead this am, won't jump , so need a new one. Which do you recommend? Optima yellow top? Need a good battery but on the somewhat cheaper side.

Optima is by far the best yes exspensive but well worth it. You can't hurt them and my CRD still managed to run around town with a dying alternator without a problem. And if you add lights or anything extra it helps out so much more. And more then likely the Optima will out last 2 regular batteries so spend the extra and enjoy the extra.

Well looking to spend around 100 give a couple bucks . I plan to so lights in the future , maybe a lightbar or 2 more fog so I won't need that much. Would rather not have to trim the battery tray if I don't have to. Can someone give me a recommendation on make/model

Skip the optima, there quality has taken a sever nose dive in the last 7 or so years.

If your planning on adding electronic accessories and want a dependable battery that will last you will need to pony up some more cash.Drive straight to Sears and pick up one of there DieHard Platinum P4 batteries, more power then you'll ever need and the best warranty also but about $190-$200.Trimming the battery tray required but well worth it.

You might spend around a buck fifty on an Optima.
Both of mine work just fine :goink: winch and all.

my motorcraft silver works wonderful, never had a problem with it, but I don't have a habit of killing it over and over either, that's where the optima's punt the regular batteries, their reserve doesn't dive over repeated kills like a huge majority of batts

My 8 year old RedTop(before Johnson Controls owned Optima) was great and still is being used today on my fathers farm, the 2 Yellow Tops I had crapped out just after the 2 year warranty period.

Got smart and got a good battery.

Like many popular spiral-wound batteries, ODYSSEY batteries employ dry cell AGM technology to contain acid, allowing the battery to be installed even on its side. But the densely packed flat plates in an ODYSSEY battery avoid the “dead space” between cylinders in a “six-pack” design. The result is 15% more plate surface area — and that translates to more power!

Gotta go with TJKJ. I picked up one of those Sears P4's and is it ever a strong runner.

For what it's worth. Consumer Reports had some testing results and one of the top rated battery's was a Costco/Kirkland unit. My dad just bought one for his 56 Ford and the price was about $60.00 (This was for a 12v, we converted the car from 6v over the winter)
