Post subject:  Remote start

I'm know it's in here some where but I can't seem to find it.
I would like to purchase a remote start for my 2002 Jeep Liberty but I don't want to deactivate the Sentry system. Which interface module do I need to purchase to work in conjunction with the OEM security system?

I also read somewhere that if you have a Jeep with a chip key (Sentry) the only way you are going to be able to do it is with a unit that must have a working chip key inside it. It is basically a little box that you put the key it, tuck it way away under the dash, and it has a wire that you run to the ignition that wraps around the ignition to convince it that there is a chip key in the ignition. Now is the interface module?

I also ready you can place/hide a key within a certain distance of the ignition.

Not sure where the topic is in this forum, but I do know that if you want, there are bypass kits that can be added to almost any car starter, that will bypass your security system, without the use of a chip key. I had one in my last Silverado truck. The bypass kits run quite expensive, atleast here in Canada, they are $100+. I called the local Canadian Tire a few weeks ago, about my wife's van. I had bought a car starter on sale a year ago, and now want to put it in her van. The Montana also has the GM Passlock system, same as my previous truck. They are using the trick you suggested, if you don't mind giving up your chip key and saving a hundred dollars. He told me that they would take one of her van keys, mount it inside the dash with an antenna, and it would confuse the Passlock into thinking a chip key was starting it. He said that I would have to have a few keys cut at the shop and pack away the other chip key. She will have to use the two cut keys as her main sets. He said if she used the car starter to start the van, then went out with the other chip key, it would shut down the vehicle, so she must use the cut keys. Anyway, don't know if this helps but I will pass it along. My Liberty has a remote start, and it actually has the bypass kit, as I use both of my OEM keys to start it. Good luck.

You dont need to bypass the sentry system. My KJ didn't have it so my install was pretty much straight forward. This is where i got my alarm. I got the dei 561t so i can utilize my factory remote. Remember this one is only as good as the range of the factory remote. For me it works fine, my kj is parked with in factory remote range at home and at work. My factory remote works about 75-100ft. They have the bypass module for an addit. $29.

Post subject:  Remote Start

My '02 came with one already installed after market, the lock and unlock buttons don't work but I have to re entry fobs so I don't let it bother me . While I was buying the KJ I noticed it had a chip key. But when I asked for a duplicate, they said my Jeep wasn't chip equiped I asked then why the Key they said the salesman probably sand baged the order. That should have waved a red flag as to what type of dealership I was dealing with!!! I may call this number sometime to see if I can get the 411 on this remote. The only thing I have is a toll free number on the starter fob :1-800-274-0200, I have no clue as to the price but it is SWEEEEET  . They have a Puffer law in Colorado if you leave your car with the motor running unattended you can get a ticket, if it's stolen and you left the keys in the ignition your insurance doesn't have to pay. But with this remote start it's locked at all times and the minute someone get in and touchs the brake the engine dies :P :P . Very Cool 8) It's real nice with the wuinters in Colorado I just stick my head out the door hit the button, finish my coffee and walk out to a nice warm toasty Jeep :D   Try calling the 800 number you have nothing to loose
