Tires and wheels mounted and installed on Jeep, tires are 245/75/16 BFG Radial Long Trail TA, I have had the same tires on several Jeeps now and love em, on my XJ I have a set of 245/70s that after 30k miles show about 30% tread wear. The wheels are factory Jeep 16", they came on the Grand Cherokee 5.9's in 98, on the Cherokee Freedom in 00, the 60th anniversary edition XJ in 01, and they were briefly offered on wranglers as a 16" wheel options, I love the wheels, and its something that I covet partially because they are kinda rare and hard to get your hands on. Oh and the tires rubbed slightly on the pinch rubber fender line where the pinch weld is, luckily a razor blade knife took care of that.
Also welded up some roof rack cross rails, gonna go out and mount em now, then throw the Thule on top. Tomorrow after class we are out on the road. |

They look great on your KJ I remember them and I'm sure it took a little search and look to find. But the end result is sweet. Congratulations |

more i look i see a few rust spots and dent all up that drivers side... Right. $500 for new tires. $500 for new body parts for "aesthetics." So what if the jeep is a little dented? Does it offend your sensibilities that I would rather keep a safe driving vehicle on the road than an unsafe vehicle(crapyear stock tires) without dents? Need I remind you of what we started with?

They are as bad as I make them out to be(and this is with less than 30k on them, by contrast I have that much on these BFGs on my XJ and they still show much more life left):
The stock tires are crap. They have a short lifespan and poor traction. No doubt the tires were a contributing factor in the rollover of this Jeep. Just because a few hundred thousand people daily drove firestone wilderness tires doesn't mean they were any good. 2 million Ford Pintos were produced.............. |

Man, again with the custom work.... I do love the look of the old rims on your KJ. I love those tires too. I had a set before and they were really nice all around tires. I didn't go with them this time around because I wanted to experiment but sometimes I wish I would have. |

Looks great, like the looks of the wheels a lot and yes I would rather get rid of the tires than finish the dents, plus it gives it character so new tires= good fix dents= bad Some only go for the looks but throw safety out the window..... Tom |

Nice progress. Do you plan to lift it a little? The tires look like they need some breathing room. i REALLY like your rims. I see those on Cherokees all the time where I live. |

I agree with you man. The stock tires were garbage. I changed mine after 25K. They were worn out already. I always use BFG's. I had BFG AT KO's on all of my jeeps. JY/TJ/CJ/and now both KJ's Would never use any other tire for my Jeep |

I've thought about that too, but I hit such a winner with these tires I feel like that I dont think I want to mess with seeing if I can find something better. Not when theres that much $ invovled anyway. Video Guy wrote: Nice progress. Do you plan to lift it a little? The tires look like they need some breathing room. i REALLY like your rims. Nope, trying to keep the jeep low to maximize the diesel fuel economy, they fit fine after the little bit of trimmiing on that pinch weld part of the fender liner. riptricket wrote: welded roof bars don't show up... great job bringing back some life to that KJ!
They actually aren't installed there, but they run directly in between the roof rails, took some 1 x2 tube, welded a 4" flange on the end of it(making a T shape), drilled 2 holes in each end flange, drill 2 matching holes in the roof rails, then bolted them in. Keeps the thule nice and low. |

Dude that KJ was DOA (there's a great thread on it's resurection)... It's amazing the amount of work that has gone into it. Still like the tires / rims.. Even for OEM parts, they give the Liberty some unique flair to it. |

Wow...that's all I can say. You did an amazing job on that ride. All in your garage to boot. I'm stunned at how you brought that back to life from the dead. Not to mention the awesome pics from your trip...I can't wait to retire to CO. |

Ya I've been to ohio twice, didnt much care for it either time. winter was cold, like colorado, cept without the mountains. Summer was cooler than colorado, but more humid, and without the mountains. |

about dead on description, although I grew up right on lake erie. could see the lake from my parents house. outside of being right up on the lake, once you get south, its pretty much farm country. just like you all described, but without the mountains...lately summers have been africa hot and winters are getting back to alaska cold...its insane. |

Great job on the resurrection! Also, I think the lights in the above picture mean that you're upside down. Man, jeep thinks of everything! N |
