Go with the Grave Digger if the price is relatively equal.

Seriously... are you serious?! Gotta go with the Commander. The only thing decent with GM is the "OnStar".

We traded the wife's renegade for a Commander, and, once I got used to the boxy look and the awkwardness of driving something that big, I love it. The ride is incredible.

Are either 4WD? The Trailblazer looks like an SS version or something.

I rented a Trailblazer once when I was on an install in Ohio and it drove just fine. Had the little AWD selector nob on the dash and it worked well on wet pavement. Wouldn't take it off road though.

I've never driven a Commander, but I saw one that had like seven different tones of brown in the interior. That would irritate the heck out of me. But I'd still like to drive one and check it out. If you buy that one though, you MUST take the chrome wind deflector off.

What are the years of those two trucks? Mileage? Power? Amenities?

Negotiate a good price - They are going cheap.

Commander... Since they are going to end production and don't sell well you should get a great deal. + lifetime powertrain warranty + it's a Jeep + it can have a HEMI

well i went after work to look at Commanders. I swear it was like flies on crap. I was on the lot for like 2 mins and bamn someone appeared out of no where. Told them I was just looking, the same lady that sold me the liberty although she doesn't remember. You know how car sales give you all that babble. Pretty pricey new though eekk...I have to make a decision thanks for all the replies. The Trailblazer is AWD 33,000 thats allot cheese. The commader was 34,000 + change. Decisions Decisions

The trailblazer has got to be the ugliest soccer vehicles Ive ever seen. The lack of styling makes me throw up alittle everytime I see one.

I cant stand the looks of any GM vehicle.

Drive both and see what you prefer. The prices are close.

I'm not one of those blind brand loyal people. Every time I shop for a new car I drive tons of stuff from different manufacturers (domestic and foreign). So I'm not saying the below because I'm one of those "it's jeep or nothing guys".

My girlfriend has a trailblazer (not the ss) and I hate it. In short...
Exterior styling sucks
The interior is terrible
The nagahide(sp?) seats straight from the 80s are a joke
The ride stinks
It wasn't particularly reliable
It wasn't particularly inexpensive for what she got (I-6, no leather, for $30k)

an SS for $33k might be a different story. I've never been in one.

Have you given any thought to the GC? It might be worth a test drive at any rate.

If you're going to go with the TrailBlazer SS, you might as well get a Grand Cherokee SRT8. The SRT8 looks a lot better and it can blow the SS out of the water.

Words of wisdom................

Choose your SUV wisely. Just remember one day your wife might get tired of it and you will end up with it. I know this from experience. I am one my second suv that was passed down from my wife. That would be the Liberty. When she just had to have it after driving many vehicles, I made sure it was bought with all the bells and whistles for me. Offroad package, towing package , upgraded t-case etc. Then she got everything she wanted as well. But now that another one is in my hands, I am glad that this time I had looked into the future. She couldn't understand at the time why I wanted all that crap on it, now she knows. I have a decent vehicle that is capable and will make a good camping vehicle etc. I am able to live with how things worked out.

I agree with the previous post...might as well take a look at the Grand Cherokee while youre looking at the commander as well...the SS is quick for sure i've test driven one myself, but those things really know how to suck down gas with a big V-8 and AWD
