Anybody ever have any issues with their steel black soft 8's and the regional use of road salt?

I have a pair of chrome wheels like the soft 8's on an older XJ and they didn't last very long due to the use of road salt.

And also on the 07's with TPM's. the issue of the sensors not working with steel wheels is fixed in the 06's and 07's, right?

I got the Cragar 342 (black) and it went through one winter without any problems.

I just had my Soft 8's put on this October. I'm in Pennsylvania so I'm sure I'll find out soon enough.

They are powder-coated, I believe. Should not be a problem...

I had them on for one winter and they did 'ok.'

There really wasn't any rust other than where it touches the rotors. I guess the paint was rubbed off which allowed it to rust.

I've had mine on for over 2 years now.
Some slight surface rust near the center of the wheel. I'm sure it's brake dust as I don't wash the Lib that much.

Other than that, they have stood up to winters here in west central Illinois just fine.

on the onld cherokee i had a set of cragars and the held up just fine with all of the winter road salts. As long as you wash them somwhat regularly they will outlast the jeep itself

Will do. I'm pretty anal about how I care for my vehicle - she gets washed 1x/week, so maybe it's not a true representation. :)

That's one way of looking at it. The other way of looking at it is that because you wash it so often, you will be the first to notice any issues. I wonder how many people who have posted here saw the topic, ran out and looked at their wheels before posting all was okay?

Just curious.

Thanks all.

FWIW, in the winter with all the salt around here, I wash the car whether it looks like it needs it or not once every two weeks. Maybe overkill, but for 10 bucks a pop, its insurance for my brain...they start salting a ton here soon.
