| Post subject: | Quick sticker removal question |
I have a newer Blackwidow safari basket with wind fairing. I took off the BW sticker on the fairing and it left the standard sticker gummy ghost on the fairing. What product can I use to remove the residue without tainting the plastic fairing? Will something like Goo Gone work? Reading their label, its says it could "melt" some plastics...so I am weary. Right where the sticker residue is, I want to install a new Jeep Logo sticker I just got, but won't until the old stuff is cleaned off...what other products remove the sticky residue without hurting plastic??? There's Goof Off (much akin to Goo Gone)...I've tried concentrated lemmon juice (which works on some sticky stuff but not in this case) and I won't dare try mineral spirits. I dont want to remove the sticky stuff with something pwerful only to leave the area clouded and partly messed. Any suggestions? I tried a razor blade but no go...hot water, vinegar....no go. what you guys think...I've seen others here with the same BW fairing and that company sticker removed...what did you use??????? |

Alcohol makes for an excellant solvent. Shouldn't be to harsh for your plastic products maybe a little time to clean the adhesive off. |

well...I tried the rub alcohol...didn't work..this black widow sticker had some industrial glue me thinks...LOL. anyhow, I went with the stronger Goof Off. I tested it on a very small part on the back of the fairing and it had no ill effects. I then put some on a paper towel and rubbed the glue. INSTANTLY, it removed the glue and I finished with alcohol to basically get all the balled up glue off. Looks perfect and the sticker is in place. Looks great too. thanks guys for all the suggestions...and note taken...no more alcohol abuse by using it as a de-gluer. LOL |

Get some real sipping Bourbon, Woodford Reserve, and use that black jack stuff as the thinner, or better yet pour it in your washer fluid to keep it from freezing. |

LOL....besides good beers, I'm now a Single Malt Scotch kind of guy when it comes to straight whiskeys on the rocks or neat....love the Glenlivet, Lagavulins, Johnny Walkers, McCallins, 12+ years etc....now that its almost winter, I should own stock in Glenlivet! Need to try the Woodford....there was a time I was into the bourbons... now I try to avoid things that have me peeing in the corner of the closet in the middle of the night! LOL!!!!! |

God I hope you are talking about Johny Walker's Black. That red crap will kill you. The possibility of it even being mentioned in the sdame breathe as McCallins is an outrage!!! Get some Woodford reserve, if you can find it. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPOINTED!!!! |

Bestine works great at removing glue residue and doesn't harm most plastics |

We need to open up our Blue Label Johnny...we also have an unopened bottle of 21 yr old Glenlivet Archive that we got as a present last year. Anyone try the 21 yr old Glenlivet Archive? |

WD-40 works REALLY good at removing sticker residue. I use it all the time when removing old vinyl and applying new. Just heat up the old sticker with a heat gun, remove it, and then rub with a WD-40 soaked paper towel. Follow up with some kind of degreaser like simple grean, or windex with vinegar, and it will be just like new. |
