So I got my decals from Pixeldecals.com (thanks Don!), and I'm going to put them on tomorrow after washin up the Libby. Any advice for prep work or proper application of the "Renegade" decals that will be going on the sides of the hood? I've never applied decals directly to a pained surface before, and I don't want to screw it up. Any tips for making sure things are lined up nice on both sides?

thanks.

You mean Pixeldzn did not include "applying" instructions? - it is a 30 page manual that he developed long ago !!

sorry - I had to get that off my chest :)
I applied the RENEGADE decals without problems - just make sure surface is clean - it is short enough that you can actually hold it with both hands from the ends and place it correctly - no biggie...

if you add a couple drops of dishwashing soap to a spray bottle of water and mix well then spray it on a CLEAN surface it will allow you to place and move the decal around a bit to make it line up correctly. After it's in place let it sit in the sun a few hours to dry out and stick.

I would spray the entire surface where you're going to apply the decal with windex, but that's just another variation on the dish soap theme

apply a strip of masking tape as to where you want it will also help for instance bottom and at least on end, gives you a great reference point and you can measure both sides to make sure they are the same

You'll find that since the Rennie hood tapers to the front, if you go too far foward the decals will sort of "bend" and won't look as good. Mine start about 2 inches in from the windshield end of the hood. If they are like mine, the piece of paper they come on is squared off and you can use the bottom edge of it as a guide. Definitely wet down the area with soapy water. It really doesn't make the decal "slide" unless it's soaking wet and soapy. What it does do is allow you to pull up the decal to reposition it without destroying it. It will also allow you to "squeegee" out all the bubbles while it's wet. I found on mine that it works best to use the squeegee WHILE THE COVER PAPER IS STILL OVER THE DECAL! Removing the cover paper and THEN trying to squeegee the decal can result in a tear to the decal (ask me how I know!). Then leave the cover paper on till it dries a decent amount - 1/2 hr in the sun or so. Then carefully remove one corner of the cover paper and see if the decal starts to lift. If it does, resquegee and leave the cover paper on longer.

This is all good advice. I can't really add anything to what has been said!
