Hey all,

Ever wonder what happens when you hit a 8 point buck at 65 mph? Well, about $3900.00 worth the damage. I was on my way to Deer Camp ( go ahead and laugh ) and I was driving at night. I did not see the buck until I hit him. After I hit the deer, i pulled over and tied up the inner fender with some string, checked for leaks and drove on to camp. The next morning when I came to claim my prize, some one had cut off the deers head. Keep in mind, this is on a 4 line highway.

Damage to the Liberty is to the hood, grill, bumper, left fender, radiator, AC condencer. The Liberty drives like it did before the hit, it tracks straight all the lights work (minus the turn signal cover). The only thing that does not work is the horn. I just got back from the body shop where the estimate is $3844.17.

The worst part, this deer was the only one I saw during my week of hunting.

Can you imagine after hitting the Deer and tossing him in the back (you're right beside that 4-lane highway so you just do it quick) thinking you'd gut the thing later only to find out it didn't die and now it's in the Libb with you and it's just not happy about the whole event?

Like that movie with chris farley and david spayde with the deer in the back of the car then i wakes up and tears the doo doo out of the car. Cant think of the name of the movie to save my life.

You guys must have smaller deer than we do. An 8 point around here is enough to kill a Mack truck, let alone a KJ. Especially at 65mph.

Mule deer are significantly larger than white tail deer.

He did not say anything about Mule Deer. If he had I am sure he waould have said 4X4 and not 8 point. Besides they have white tails there too and they are MUCH bigger there than we have in Ky and Ohio.

So, I take the old Liberty to lunch today, while I had lunch the libby stayed out in the cold and the snow. When I tried to start the libby ( now known as the Great Deer Hunter) she would not start. No sound no nothing. Just silence. I had a buddy from the office come jump start it. It would start up, run for a second and then die. I start it up again and the Great Dear Hunter will run if I gave it gas, let off the gas and she would die.

I am thinking that the Battery is dead. I had no warning signs of alternator going bad, no battery light, no noise from the bearings, good belts and tensioner. The battery is the OEM, so am I right in thinking that its the battery? I am going to have the Great Deer Hunter towed home tonite ( Thanks AAA ) and I will work on it this weekend. I will get some pics posted of the damage tomorrow.

Can't wait to see what happens next... :)

in past experiance I think you have a much bigger problem than the battery

usualy when a battery goes dead you can hear a rappid clicking sound which would be the starter engaging

could be a million things though that cause the problem your experiancing

Umm, since he was talking about deer where he lives (Wyoming) being bigger than than the deer that was hit in Ohio...

Yeah, they have white tail out West but the more prevalent species is the mule deer. In Ohio, there is just the white tail. SO, if he is talking about "an 8 point around here is enough to kill a Mack truck" he is likely referring to the Mule deer. Not sure what you ment by "he would have said 4X4 and not 8 point." I've never seen a 4X4 deer... white tail or mule.

Not so on a KJ.

Wife's battery went dead just like that and did the exact same thing. The voltage regulator in in the PCM not the alt or elswhere so when the voltage drops below a certian level it just wont turn over or power anything.

In my XJ it clicked and did all the old nboises you are talking about.
