| Post subject: | Thinking of new shocks... |
Hey all. I have a 2003 thats lifted and I am thinking of getting a set of the rancho rear shocks and maybe some new stuff up front as well. I have 43,000 miles and I think they are starting to suffer a bit due to wheeling/camping/snow. My plan is to pull it in the garage and do pads, rotors, and shocks all the way around. I would odds are order from All J being a sponsor here....Any advice or recommendations? Thanks Joe |

Don't mean to butt in or hijack, but, I do know the OME suspension is kind of harsh, or is that how its supposed to be? Is that one of your reasons for wanting to change, Boosted? |

Not to sure what you mean by harsh, mine rides like a dream. Boostedxt, Rancho or OME will be much better than stock but you do know that you must compress the front coil overs to get the shock out, right? I find it easier and safer to take it to a shop and let them handle it if youre not sure how to compress springs. It can get dangerous in a quick hurry. |

OME =harsh ride ???? not sure what he rode in with OMEs but everyone on here that has or gets OMEs loves them, from what I ve seen. Ranchos do well also like the way mine ride anyways. What kind of lift do you have? |

Anything but harsh. Just put OME's all around, springs and shocks and OH MY GOD what a differenct. HD's and MUCH better ride than stock. Stock was harsh compared to this. Better recovery from potholes and speed bumps, not nearly the amoutn of bounce. You might be thinking of an OEM suspension (Original Equipment...) Not an OEM (Old Man Emu) |

My OME's are nowhere even approaching harsh. On the road it rides as comfortably as the stock suspension except I no longer bottom out the front end on dips. Off-road it rides like a dream over washboards and short whoops. The Rancho shocks and struts perform well, too. You can't go wrong with All J. They more than make up for any price difference in their service and their reasonable shipping charges. I had checked with a couple other vendors that had "lower prices" on OME coils. In one case All J beat the other vendor's shipping price by over $100. It just seems that whenever I call them, they take a personal interest in my KJ and, unlike other vendors, they know what they are talking about where KJs are concerned. |

HOW MUCH did they charge you for shipping, or want to at the other place. Where were you shipping them to? China? I bought all of my components seperately and NEVER paid more than 15.00 for shipping on anything. |

One vendor, who shall remain nameless, wanted $126 to ship 4 coil springs to Arizona. Actually, they didn't have them in stock and were going to have them drop-shipped from the OME warehouse which is even closer to AZ than their store. Another vendor with an advertised "low price" didn't have them in stock and wasn't interested in getting them for me. Neither vendor seemed to know squat about KJs. That's why, from now on I'll just stick with All J and Rock Lizard. One of my pet peaves has always been when I know more about a product than the salesman. Sorry for the continued hijack............ we now return to our discussion of shocks. |

Not an OEM (Old Man Emu) That's what i was thinking, Original Manufacturers Equipment. I still have the stock, and I drove a lifted liberty with the stock suspension. It's just too darn bumpy, bouncy, and doesnt absorb hardly ANYTHING you go over. You definately feel it. Is Old Man Emu that much better? |

if you drove a lifted liberty with the stock suspension it was a spacer lift then, and the ride on those usually arent good OME is a full suspension lift and from what I hear its a better ride than stock, I cant wait to get my coils!! |
