Well I did it. Just spent a few hours saturday installing my HD shocks and springs. WOW a great ridding 3.0 - 3.5 inch lift. All i need now is new wheels and tires. The problem is that in my tunnel vision of wanting and installing my new suspension i totaly forgot the fact that my 76 year old mother needs to ride in this KJ for doctors visits and other very frequent trips. I fear that I will have to loose it and put my KJ back to staock. will find out this morning. Good thing I kept the stock shocks and springs. EDIT: Pics Added

Let it settle some and it wont be so high. Take it offroad and flex it real good before you decide on taking it back off. Edit: Pics or it didnt happen. |

I have a pair of standard skinks fro RL on order but don't want running boards. I saved the OEm struts all assembled and it will be a quick swap out. then in the future i can re-install the HD's. But i will see how much it settles first. |

Good luck with that I was wondering if you've heard any noises from your front sway bar links now that you're lifted..? I've tried everything including torquing them to specs and using blue loctite... I'm not playing nice with them any more... This time, I'm torquing them until my arm falls off all while using red loctite... If that doesn't do it, I will declare failure... |

May have to do like I did for my Mother who is 75, built her a step, since she only rides in it every month or so its no big deal! Plus I built it good and heavy duty and it also serves as a base for the stock jack. Used 4x4s and a piece of 2x12 all treated material, so gives me about a 5 inch step! Tom BeepBeepJeepJeep.....I have had my OME lift on for 45000 and never have had a sound come out of the front except for normal flexing....trying to determine what your problem is ?????????????? |

It's the end-link bushings. I think DC must have gotten a bad batch of them at one point. Seems to be a hit or miss failure but it is pretty common. |

Make or buy a set of sturdy steps...and carry them in your KJ. |

Exactly my though. I have one of these:
for getting things on/off the roof and it folds and is exactly the depth of the trunk when flat. You can cat get them at wallymart. |

BeepBeep, same here, although it is brand new, I made sure to torque everything good to specs. Tom, I might try that. but we have all kinds of re-hab 3 times a week and what not so I might have to go back to stock 4 a while. |

Im pretty sure it will settle to around 2,5in. Reason I say that is the fraken lift uses the same springs with a spacer and its 3.5in. Mine settled to 1.5in with the Medium springs. Dont tell her about it and see if she notices. If she does, make her some steps. |

i agree. dont tell her about the lift. See if she notices anything different. IF she does then make a step, by a step, or get a small truck step you can easily take off when you want to go wheeling. I understand you care about your mother and all but you already have the lift on. it would be a lot easier to just get something to lessen the distance. |

I completely agree with all the recomendations for a step. She already knows about the lift. She called while I was woring on it. I am not sure what she thinks it is or what "installing my new suspension components" means. I hope she wont really notice, but if she does I will have to try something and I agree a step of some sort is the first step (no pun intended) GOD THIS IS SO NICE!!!!! I love it. This could get to be VERY expensive.... Pics to come, been rainy and crappy for 4 days now. |

Just get a portable compressor. Let the air out of the tires so she can get in, then fill em back up! I have one of these: http://www.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=1289924 It's bungied to the back side of the back seats. Comes in handy at car washes for the top, & loading the roof rack too. |
