Hi:
I put my idling 05 limited w/ 38,000 miles in park on my inclined driveway today and jumped out to get the mail. When I got back in I noticed the ABS and Brake dash lights were both on. As I spun my way up the snow covered driveway they stayed on. I came to the top of the hill and put it into park and turned off the Jeep. Started her back up and all is fine. I pulled into the garage and cycled it one more time and all continues to be fine. I poped the hood to find the braked fluid full.

Any ideas?

Ken :?:

Was the ABS active as you stopped to get the mail? It didn't sound like it from your post... Could be a fluke as the light hasn't reappeared.

If there were a malfunction, that light would continue to illuminate

I've had an intermittent ABS light issues. It happens about once every three months and doesn't appear to be a sensor issue. Restarting clears the indicator and I go my merry way. When it does occur, the odometer stops counting up miles, but the speedo works fine. I also think that ABS is still working, but haven't been in slick conditions so that I could verify ABS is still active.

I suspect its an intermittent software issue. For some reason it gets confused and gives me the indication. A shutdown and restart clears the software trap. I've checked the speed sensor on the diff, but I'm not going to replace it until it fails completely.

BRING IT IN!

I had this problem and it ended up being speed sensors in both front wheels gone bad, caused by rusted hubs. If the ABS light came on, there will be a record of the cause stored in the computer, so the dealer will be able to look it up. At 30k it'll be covered under warranty even if there's no problem.

Oops, I read that wrong. at 38k you're just out of your warranty. The speed sensor for me came out to about $60, hubs would have been more.

Thanks guy's
I think I'll wait until I get a complete failure. You know how it is - "we couldn't reproduce the problem sir. Bring it back in when it happens again".

Thanks;
Ken
