I know, check the build date. Just replying to a buddy's PM on another board and wondering so I could mention it to him. He's wanting to trade his Scion for another Jeep.

Could go to the dealership and check it before I'd get an email back from the online way. Just wondering if some of the "long-timers" could tell by eye? It sort of looks taller than stock to me but, I can't really tell.

I think all 2002 that were made before April 12, 02 were prelowered. Of course, by now after almost 5-6 years the springs have sagged.

prelowered or not it is not worth that much
our '03 LTD with every option offered and only 50K was listed at only $12K retail
I would drive to south Louisiana to buy a car if I were living some place else and needed a car
they seem way cheeper here then any place else

I'm in the process of telling him to offer 10K but not pay more than 10,500, period.

It will have the HD 45RFE Tranny, but since its a limited it might have the selec-track instead of the command-track. Oh BTW, lose the bra...

Can you go to the car and bring a large ruler?

If it's pre-lowered you will get 680mm from bottom of the rim to the upper inside of the wheel arc.

If not pre-lowered you will get 700-710mm from bottom of rim to the upper inside of the wheel arc.

Dammm thats not even worth trying to find one thats not prelowered. Do you know how much 20 to 30mm is (2 to 3 centimeters, less than an inch to just over an inch)? Because of the age you probably won't even have that adavntage left in the springs.................................

I've always heard (on this forum, anyway) that the "4x4" badge beneath the side windows toward the back is your clue that the KJ is in fact pre-lowered. In my experience, all the ones with the side badge sit noticeably taller than the lowered models.

I think it is pre-lowered. Price TOO HIGH. LOOSE the bra, tears the crap out of your paint.

Looks like a pre-lowered. If you're going to lift it, I don't see where that would make a difference. If you leave it stock, you should be able to put 245/70R16's on the stock rims with no rubbing. It probably needs new shocks and struts by now, and you want to make sure all the major service has been done to it. The benefits I see are the 45RFE transmission, and possibly no ABS if you're like me and hate not being able to feel your actual braking. I think the price is a little high though.

yep, the RFE was the first thing I mentioned to my buddy. He's a new dad so a lift is out of his budget at the moment. I figured pre-lowered would be the better option for him, for now. Since he probably will be taking it off-road at least a bit. My concern with the bra is that the bra looks too new for that KJ. Perhaps it's hiding some Wyoming pin-striping (sage brush scratches)? I agree that the price is too high but, at least it's better than the 03, with RRO's budget lift, that I saw a couple days ago. They want $13K for that! I doubt they'd take anything less than $10K for this one though, to be honest. Liberty's are a hot item around here and not hard to move off the lot.

edit: The other nice thing about this area: EVERYONE hates ABS/ESP/ETC... Even my Limited doesn't have any electronic gizmos... command-trac to boot! :D

I would have to take that bra off and make sure it's not hiding damage, or caused damage. Test drive it to a mechanic you know.

LOL that made no sense - it's exactly opposite of what I wrote. Numbers are good, but the lowered ones are 680mm non-lowered ones are 700-710mm.

If you do a lift to one that is lowered you get "more lift" from stock but if you take one which is not lowered you get "less lift". Both cars end up at the same height, but you gained more with your lowered one (because it was lower from stock than the other).

I knew what you meant. ;) Thanks for the numbers. Wasn't sure about those. I keep a tape measure in my KJ so won't be hard to find out if I actually stop and look at it in person.
