Check this out, I think I finaly found the replacement for my KJ Cherokee. http://www.leftlanenews.com/land-rover-lrx-concept.html I always had a weak spot for Landrovers as I work with a Defender 90 and drive a Range Rover from time to time. I normally replace my daily drivers every 2-3 years but until now I could not find something that looked better than the KJ, until now that is. |

well if you could afford to drop 80g's or more. then the ? is would you risk taking it out on trails. doubt it. i could think of plenty of other ways to spend that kind of cash. |

Looks like a bigger mini-cooper for the ultimate "environmentally friendly" soccer mom. Certainly not for me, but to each their own N |

Too fancy. Trailhawk is better looking, if you want ultra-fanciness. |

Reminds me of the Nissan Murano. Maybe you could get a Murano & a JK Rubicon for $80,000. |

A street vehicle. Look how low it sits. At that price, I'd get the AEV KJ or AEV JK. |

If you're going to get a rover, at least get a Defender, an older Disco, or a Range Rover classic. Something serviceable... |

told you it's the dark side, didn't I? The good thing is that it will not cost $80.000, it is going to be placed under the Freelander, that means it will be cheaper than the KK over here. The KK is going to cost around $50.000 in the UK (150% profit for Chrysler per unit) and for that kind of money I can get this and have the optional hydraulic full independent suspension like the Range Rover, no more ground clearance problems, just lift it by a push of the button and it will do above 40mpg (quite handy when fuel is getting close to $9 a Gallon). ......and there is nothing better smelling than the leather of a Landrover. As I told you for my work I use a D90, trail ready and unstoppable stock from the factory, I use it to haul timber with a trailer off- road and as long as you keep the dash above water level it will do everything you ask it to do. So I don't need the new daily driver for the trails, I need something that drives good, looks good and feels good and gets me home when the roads are flooded or when a snow blizzard is blowing and until now the KJ Cherokee was the only 4x4 that ticked all the boxes. |

I REALLY don't like defending Chrysler Corp, but I doubt that the 150% mark up is going to them & not the UK government. |

Well it definitely doesn't compete with a KJ...40mpg?...where did that number comes from? Is it a diesel? It might be a very nice vehicle...under the Freelander?...you can't get much smaller than that and not be a Honda Fit. I bet you could sell your 2.5CRD Manual (if it were possible) for something over here! |

Holy crap that's awesome! The interior (love that dash) is very nice, but I can't see loading 4 wet/muddy/stinky kayakers and hauling down a logging a road in it. I scraped up my KJ pretty good a few months back on some very tight trails, with more to come I'm sure... No way I'd get that Rover anywhere near that kind of stuff. But if you're not into that and you're rolling mainly down city streets.. hell yeah, it's tight. |

Ditto the gas tax Yep, tax is only 17.5% the rest is pure profit, that's why Chrysler is so keen to grow in Europe, easy money! They try to sell the KK (from January) for $50.000 and that's BMW 3 series, Audi A4 and Lexus territory, it's completely insane. check out the Jeep UK price list and you will be shocked: http://www.jeep.co.uk/jeep/pdf/jeep_pricelist.pdf Remember it is in UK Pounds, £1= $2.017 so roughly you can take the price times 2 to have the $ amount. Diesel price is so high due to over taxing by the government. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- "Well it definitely doesn't compete with a KJ...40mpg?...where did that number comes from? Is it a diesel?" --------------------------------------------------------- Yep, 90% of all 4x4's over here are diesel and 40MPG is the benchmark. ------------------------------------------------------------ "I bet you could sell your 2.5CRD Manual (if it were possible) for something over here" ---------------------------------------------------------- Anyone interested in a right hand drive (kind of postal) Cherokee 2.5 CRD manual? no ECU problems as it has none, anyone? |
