So I get in my truck this AM and on the dash is the horseshoe looking light with the exclamation, looks like a flat tire now that i looked it up. Turns out I have the basic TPMS in my Renny I guess, as my tires are in fact low. I filled them up but the light is still on, will it go away when properly filled? The light is on the dash, I dont have the evic. |

takes 15 miles to reset and come back on. Happens every time I air down. Make sure the spare is full, also. |

I think it became standard at some point. I just ignore that light since I don't have sensors in my moab rims. Only thing the EVIC will do is show you the tire pressure. |

Also, if your tires are OVER inflated the light will come on. |

There is a TPM in the spare but no receiver for the spare. Only recievers are in the wheel wells and receives info from the TPM's as the tires rotate. Give them some time and they should reset. Older ones needed a magnet to initialize to the system. I know they would need to be done when you got new tires and suck, but not sure if that needs to be done if the give you a warning then fill em up. |

There is a receiver for the spare, but it only checks it once every 24 hours I believe. The 4 rotating tires are checked every few minutes while driving. The TPM system is standard on everything 2005+. If you have the EVIC, you get a display that tells you if the pressure is low (if you don't, you just get the dash light - steady if a driving tire is low, flashing every few minutes if it's the spare). If you get the TPM package, you also get an evic display that tells you the pressure of each tire (normally you only get indication if they are low) |

Where is the receiver for the spare? My TPM sensors on my 07 do not have a spare tire sensor. |

Not sure where the sensor is, but my evic has been complaining "SPARE LOW PRESSURE" since it got cold out. I should really check the pressures soon (before I need it!) |

I think they might have been standard on Rene's and Limited's, They were an option for the Sport model. |

The TPM monitors all 5 tires but only the 4 on the ground are displayed and all works by remote. When you replace a tire with the spare it will pick it up automatically. The only time you will see or hear anything about the spare is when it’s low. When you replace the spare with a tire it will pick it up in it’s new location Mine came on the other day when the temp dropped below 20 but it went off when the temp came back up to 25 (after the car was off and then re-started.) Odds are if you live in a cold area you low pressure light came on b/c of the temp drop which will affect your tire pressure as well (lower temps lower tire pressure.) It’s a great feature b/c you’ll never have to worry about putting on your spare tire only to find out it’s flat. |

I only have the 4 sensors and 5 tpm's, when the spare is rotated in to use it activates but there is no sensor for my spare. |

There are 5 sensors, one for each tire. If any of them are low, it will tell you. There are only 4 displayed pressures, though - the spare just shows an error condition when it's low. I suspect when you were asking before about where the sensor was, you meant where in the EVIC menu the pressure displayed, and not where physically the sensor is mounted on the vehicle? |

No, I think he's asking where the signal receiver for the sensor is on the KJ. I know I'd like to know. I'm not even real sure how the hell these things work. |

The sensors only activate above certain speed (25MPH?) I had to put my original tires/wheels on to pass inspection so I had to drive around the neighbourhood a little bit before all the readings would clear. I didn't bother taking out my MTR spare but put the original spare in the trunk. The sensor seemed to pick it up fine even when the wheel is in the trunk. |

DMV inspection? wow, they care about tire pressure? |

Well, since TPMS is part of the standard equipment and without it there'd be a light on the dashboard and it would set off a code when they plug in the ODBII reader, I'd automatically fail Sucks, but I had to swap my MTR's out, put the OEM ones on, drive around, test, take them off, mount the MTR's back on ... whew. I get tired just typing that in. |
