Hi all, The latches that hold the rear seats upright or allow them to be folded down are rattling like mad on anything but the smoothest roads. It is driving us nuts! This started about a month ago. We've only got 43k miles on the KJ. Is this a "they all do that" issue with these critters? And more importantly, is there an easy fix? Thanks all! - Chris |

yeah IIRC you can adjust them to hold the seat tighter I may have just bent them back some but I some how made it stop by moving the steel loop |

I may have just bent them back some but I some how made it stop by moving the steel loop Thanks Jason! It's my wife's daily driver, but I'll have a look at what might be adjustable in there this weekend. - Chris |

I have the same issue. Well I think I do, if that's not where the rattle is coming from then it's the storage cover. This weekend I’ll be able to do a little work inside a garage and I’ll try to make this stop. If it works I’ll let everyone know what I did. |

You can tighten up the bolts that hold the rear seats down. They are all easily accessible although you'll need a mix of metric and SAE deep sockets and maybe an extension bar to reach a couple deep down in the back. Some of the bolts also hold down the child-seat LATCH hook so be careful and make sure these are tightened down properly if you unbolt for any reason. |

Try wrapping some electrical tape around the post, it worked on a previous truck I had. Good Luck, |

I took the plastic cover off the latch assembly, but there's no obvious adjustment and there's nothing that appears to be loose. I can try the electrical tape trick on the post, but I'd rather figure out how to fix it properly if possible. This vehicle only has 50k miles on it, and the rattle started around 30k from one seat, then 5k later from the other. I'm not too impressed with having to wrap electrical tape around both latch posts to fix rattles on a 2006 vehicle with 50k miles. - Chris |

I am having a similar noise. I thought it was from the tail gate. It is difficult to nail it down. A little tough to hop back there while you are driving. Anyway Yours makes a noise when the seats are up in their normal position. Does it make any noise when the seats are down? I had not tried to listen when I lower my seats. I am going to now. I agree. WAY to young of a KJ to be jerry rigging things. This needs a real fix. |

I am going to now. It's quiet when the seats are down. My wife drove around while I was in the back seat, and when I put my fingers against the latch bar and seat, I can feel play in there that corresponds exactly with the rattling noise. Pushing the seat against the latch stops the rattle. Although I can't duplicate the noise by hand with the vehicle off, the vibration of the vehicle and the weight of the seat seems to bring about the play in the latch. Maybe it's an up-and-down play instead of forward/back play in the latch? WoodysKJ wrote: I agree. WAY to young of a KJ to be jerry rigging things. This needs a real fix.

I wrapped black electrical tape around the U bar bracket where the hook of the back seat closes onto. It works, no more noise. Easy and cheap fix. |
