I did. Does anyone know if these are soldiered to the rear window (looks like it)? Any tips on getting it re-attached are appreciated. |

I know they make defroster pens, where you can just draw the trace back on the window. I did a quick google search for it, and all I can find are game console modders and cpu overclockers using them as ghetto soldering irons. |

Repair kits are available: Strauss, JC Whitney, etc. Basically consists of a template (basically a sticky sided piece of cardbord with a slit cut in it.) You stick the template over the break and coat the open area bridging the gap between the two good ends with what is basically a liquid solder. The reason they give you a template is so you don't have a big solder blob on the inside of your window. |

Trying to hand solder wouldn't be easy or smart... Buy one of the kits (if yours is broken) to get it fixed |

Now, if you are talking about where the wire itself (not the grid) actually attaches to the glass, there is also a repair kit for this problem: It's called a "Tab Repair Kit" http://www.frostfighter.com/ff_pdt_2000.htm Quote: Tab Repair Kit
Reattach the main power tabs to automotive rear window defrosters using this kits two part silver adhesive. This highly conductive adhesive cures quickly, bonds aggressively, forming the electrical and structural connection in one simple operation. I'm done now......... |

He's not talking about the traces, he's talking about the clip where the wires attach to the grid. I had one of mine fall off and the dealer put it back on for me (they put it on backwards too, but that's a different matter.) They said it's some kind of conductive adhesive, not soldier. |

I just repaired the rear defroster on our 03 Renegade that was missing both tabs with parts from Radio Shack. I used this for the tabs http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062258&znt_campaign=Category_CMS&znt_source=CAT&znt_medium=RSCOM&znt_content=CT2032234 I took two of them off and pressed two of the tabs flat. I then used Radio Shack "Conductive Wire Glue" to attach the "new" tabs to the defroster grid. http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=12925060 ![]() I was skeptical it would work but the glue held solid and ohm meter confirmed a good connection between tabs. |

What you need is a defroster repair kit from Frost Fighter, Tab Bonding Kit, Part 2000. This is what I used. I'd include a pic, but Photobucket is down at the moment. If you want, I still have mine (used) and I'd be willing to send it to you gratis, since I no longer have my Libby. If you're interested, PM me with your info! |
