I just purchased (but have not received) a Snowsport receiver mounted plow. I plan on using it for very light duty snow pushing with my CRD. Anyone have any experiance pushing snow with the Liberty? Any experiance with durablity of this plow? It's been snowing a lot here and I'm tired of shoveling snow which could easily be pushed!! |

Or maybe a better question is 'Does anyone push snow with a Liberty?' |

Although I don't use my KJ to plow, sometimes I wish I did have one on just for my own driveway. I am sure that you will find your plow adequate for it's intended purpose, providing you don't overwhelm it. I myself would be concerned about carrying the exra weight on the front springs all the time, unless you intend to only mount the plow for snow events and then remove it. Also, mounting a plow on a KJ still under warrantee probably will void it, your auto insurance carrier may also have to be notified as to the intended change of use for your KJ too. |

after having snow plows on my 69 Bronco and 79 Ford F 150 I am done with them, tear up too many things, wears out springs, shocks, etc. Plus then you have everyone and their brother coming by saying "it will only take you 5 minutes...." But some of the newer ones are light weight and more "homeowner " friendly but for the price I can shovel a lot of snow or just hire someone |

All I know is the owners manual specifically says to NOT mount a plow to the KJ. Probably because it does not have a true frame but a hybrid frame between a full frame and a unibody. The hybrid frame is not strong enough to withstand the abuse a snowplow will place on it. If you don't believe me, watch a snowplow at work sometime, and then look at one close up, they are fairly well beaten up at the edges. |

Guys correct me if I'm wrong here, but if a buried-up-to-the-fenders KJ can get yanked out of the mud via the front tow hooks, I'm sure a gently used receiver-mounted plow would not be that bad. If its just for driveway clearing, and you don't go slammin into frozen snow banks, what harm could it really do? Sure wear and tear would increase, but I would not expect any breakage........ Am I way off base here? |

I would think there's a big diff between pulling a KJ out and slamming into a snow bank. Lots of force transmitted to the mounting. My brother plows with a Bronco & some kind of full size pickup and he's always repairing things. Of course he tends to hit buried curbs and pieces of pipe sticking up out of the ground and that sort of thing. I would think as long as you didn't whack anything buried or attempt to really nail it into heavy wet snow banks you'd probl be ok. I would think the key would be to do a couple of passes as the snow was falling instead of letting it get deep then trying to do it all at once. |

That, and only plowing familiar terrain like your driveway. Personally, I'd invest in a snow thrower for my driveway if it was big. Or just pay someone else to plow. |

Yeah, now a KJ mounted snow blower would be interesting. Probably be less damaging on the structure too. Anyone know if there are any electric ones? |

i think it would work really well. Back in the day when snow plow trucks werent on every corner people would put plows on cars and not have trouble! also most plow trucks (3/4 ton) arnt locked. and only have 2 out of the 4 wheel drive pushing.. with no weight on the backend. a KJ has to plow better than that! i'm interested to see how it works.. the unibody wont be a problem. looking forward to seeing pictures! (of the plowed surface and KJ |

That snowblower site looks awesome!!! Pricey though, what around $7500. Tempting though, but I will stick with my 42" snowthrower attatched to my lawn tractor, does a great job!! Like the guys say, if the plow is just for your driveway and light plowing from time to time, you are likely OK. I would watch for any wear and tear though. Myself, I am happier having wear and tear on my lawn tractor, than on my everyday ride. Let us know how you make out with the plow......geez, that blower from hansonblowers looks aweful cool though..... |
