Ok, so I accidently hit the menu button and it says "Language" I figure, Hmmm.... Haven't messed anything up lately so why don't i play with the programming...

Actually, as far as I know, all I did was change the "Driver door unlock on 1 push (of the remote)" to "All doors open with 1 push". So, I lock up and go inside a store, come back out, hit the remote and all the doors unlock. My g/f opens the passenger door and the alarm goes off! I hit the unlock botton - nothing happens. Alarm finally resets and the KJ won't start!
This happens a couple times, alarm resets, alarm goes off, KJ won't start..... I'm thinkin dead battery? Nope - almost new one. Did I totally clear the remote's programming? nope - doors lock & unlock with the remote.
Turn the key to accessory and the radio plays.

Finally I went in to the EVIC and changed it back to "Driver door unlock with 1 push" and the remote worked again properly and the KJ started. Man was I relieved!

What happened?

Always refer to your owners manual when in doubt.

it started working again after the alarm went off because you put the key in and turned the car on....unrelated to the evic changes...

That is seriously odd.

Have you tried programming it to open all doors using the combination described in the manual using just the remote?

It worked for me, I haven't tried changing it from my EVIC (which I added after I re-programmed door unlocks).

It could be a bug in the code, but give the remote programming a shot, it's not hard to do, I promise :)

Unh Unh...
Alarm went off and KJ would not start nor would the remote cancel the alarm UNTIL I reprogrammed the EVIC. Tried to start it several times while the alarm was quiet, it was just dead. Once I flipped the programming back to the way it was the KJ started. Gonna try it again in my yard and see what happens. (I just can't get enough punishment)!

Chris......that is strange. Almost like it has to be reset to work again, but I would think it would reset itself??? Once you put the key in the ignition and turn it, the system should recognise the key and start and shut off the alarm if it is beeping. ???

Post subject:  Instead of using the evic try this

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here's some tips on how you can tweak your Jeep's keyless entry system to fit your indiviaul needs. Many of these options are available to program with an EVIC, but if your Libby is not equipped with one, you can still make some changes to suit your needs. The features below are available to anyone who has a keyless entry system, regardless of whether it is equipped with Sentry key/Alarm.

AUTOMATIC (ROLLING) LOCKS
This is the "Lock when the vehicle is going 15mph" feature. This feature can also be disabled through the EVIC.
The rolling locks feature can be toggled ON/OFF by using the DRB IIIt only.

HORN CHIRP DISABLING / ENABLING
This controls if you want your Libby to beep the horn when locking via the keyless entry. * Reports indicate that this does not work for 05 mdoels.
To DISABLE (cancel) the horn chirp feature,
Press and hold the transmitter LOCK button for four to ten seconds.
While pressing the LOCK button in, press the UNLOCK button.
Release both buttons.

To ENABLE the horn chirp feature, repeat the above procedure.

OPTICAL CHIRP (FLASH) DISABLING / ENABLING
This controls if you want your Libby to flash the hazard lights when locking/unlocking via the keyless entry.
To DISABLE (cancel) the optical chirp feature,
Press and hold the transmitter LOCK button for four to ten seconds.
While pressing the LOCK button in, press the TAILGATE RELEASE button.
Release both buttons.

To ENABLE the optical chirp feature, repeat the above procedure.

TAIL GATE RELEASE DELAY
The liberty can be set to pop the tailgate instantly when you press the button, or require it to be pressed and held for it to open
Press the UNLOCK button for four to ten seconds.
While pressing the UNLOCK button, press the TAIL GATE RELEASE button.
Release both buttons.

This will toggle between PRESS AND HOLD and PRESS (no delay).

UNLOCK SEQUENCE
When unlocking the liberty, you can choose between unlocking drivers door first or unlocking all doors simultaneously.
Press and hold the transmitter UNLOCK button for four to ten seconds.
While pressing the UNLOCK button in, press the LOCK button.
Release both buttons.

This will toggle between Driver door first and Unlock all doors function.
