I had to replace a fuse also. The little lump of plastic went by by! BTW, I replaced the fuse with one that has a LED that lights up when the fuse blows. That will make it easy to a blown fuse!

When is someone going to develop 12V breakers?

I bought one of those mini fuse kits that came with a new pair of fuse pullers. Much better than that farctory garbage they include inside the fuse panel. I've also got a set of small needle nose pliers that I carry in my Jeep duffle to use if the fuse is really giving me fits.

Yeah "FullTimer" where did you buy the puller that lights up when you have a blown fuse?? It sure would be easier than fumbling over all the fuses to locate the right one.

I got a package of assorted values from a locale auto parts shop. I don't remember the name of them but tomorrow I'll be in there again so I'll post the name and cost.

Because the fuse is cheaper to replace. If a fuse blew once, unless you correct what caused it to blow, it'll blow again. and again. and again.

You mean like this?

http://www.wiringproducts.com/index1.html

Quote:
ATC Circuit Breakers
ATC fuse replacement circuit breakers available in auto reset, modified reset, and manual reset.

Tired of replacing fuses? These single pole thermal circuit breakers are designed as replacements for ATC or ATO style fuses. Type 1 auto reset will cycle the circuit breaker until the overload condition is removed. Type 2 modified reset will keep the circuit breaker open until the overload condition is removed. Type 3 manual reset thermal non-cycling circuit breakers will remain tripped until the operator resets them by pushing a button located on the breaker. Manufactured by Cooper Bussman.

I guess if you use the type one, the thing will just keep goin click. Click. Click. Click..... until something burns up!

Also, they have the light up fuses:

Smart Glow fuses
The worst part of taking care of a blown fuse is finding the fuse that is blown! The Smart Glow fuse lights up when it blows, telling you right away if the fuse is good ro bad. No more need to plug and unplug fuses to find the bad one. If your time is valuable, you will be glad you spent a little extra for the Smart Glow fuse. Available in MINI, ATC, and MAXI Styles
