Hey, Anybody out there have a 05-07 with TPM's anf have installed aftermarket wheels, specifically alloy wheels and even more specificly the AVE Bridgers? Got a set of five, that are waiting for the wllet to re-inflate, so I can go get rubber on them. I have procured 5 new TPM sensors, one for each. In reading the 07 FSM I read where they say to DO NOT install in aftermarket wheels. Is this a Chrysler ploy to keep you from modifying your KJ or are there issues I need to know about. AVE's are 16 inchers (16x8) and factory ones are 17 incher six spoke alloys (Sure you have seen the post elsewhere) Has anybody done this successfuly or un-successfully? Since I have the TPM stuff from the factory I would like to use it. Kind of like the seat warmers. Never thought I would ever need anything like that but now I have them and OH MY... No point in wheeling with a cold butt or flat tires. Thanks in advance. |

the area where the valvestem sits is the whole reason not to install factory TPMS sensors in an aftermarket wheel. It won't necessarily F anything up, but it might. it's a CYA on Chrysler's part. Depending on said angle, it can be difficult or downright impossible to mount the tires on the wheels with the sensors bolted in without damaging them, or they may stick out past the lip of the wheel and in the event of a flat tire the sensor could get broken, too. the AEV wheels may not be bad because they're specifically FOR Jeep vehicles. This would be something I'd call AEV about. |

All that sounds like good info and good advice. Upon initial inspection the TPM sits under the lip of the rim on the wheel, just like it does on the OEM rims. But I will call AEV and see what they say. Thanks and any additional input would be apprieciated. |

Richard Cepek Wheels are the only aftermarket wheels I recall seeing advertised as being TPM friendly. Unfortunately, they don't offer a backspacing that most of us (KJ owners) can use. I recall a member saying that he ran the sensors on steel wheels, like Soft 8's, with no issues. |

I have had mine in my rockkrawler wheels for about two months or so and no problems. I have not aired down though that might couse an issue if you go too low. |

An Update on this. Installed 5 new AVE bridgers with Kuhmos and TPMS, ABSOLUTLY NO issues. Computer read them like they have always been there. At highway speeds all works well (no TPMS flying around inside the tires). |

Sorry I keep forgetting to post pics. I will get some of the new track shoes and of the Gecko as it is now, (Still in my garage as I am waiting for better weather and another set of hands to put that beast up there) but it is all wired and ready to install. |
