...and that yes I know how to use the search function I've always been a bit of a tuner, but I've never had the oppertunity to play with a truck/SUV, etc. Well the SUV offroad bug has bitten, as if my other vices wern't enough. My girl just got into a 2002 Liberty Sport, 2x4, auto, sunroof, stereo pkg with the wheel controls and changer, fog lights, I guess its pretty optioned for a Sport, from what I've seen. Oh and its Patriot Blue. Just like to outline some quick plans for your approval. I already put my Infinity amp and sub in it... about 3 days after she got it... hm. =) I'm picking up a set of limited chrome 17's shortly ($275 a decent price for all 5 w/o tires?) I've read a lot already about the biggest tires that fit at stock height, 245/70/16 is what most of you say. Heres my question: 245/70/16's are only .5 inch larger than the stock 17" size of 235/65/17. Technically then 245/65/17 is the largest size I could use, gaining that .5 inch back. I've never heard and couldn't find any info on anyone running this size though? I know its not the best for AT's, but this jeep isn't going to see much dirt. Also, I read here that the 02's sit higher out of the box than any other year. Is it enough of a difference to run anything larger? 245 is really plenty wide for us, I was wondering about a 235/70/17 specifically on an 02? Hm Hm? Well, thats it for now... back to work. Oh, and if your anywhere near dallas and selling a chrome bull bar, lmk! |

Well, thats it for now... back to work. Oh, and if your anywhere near dallas and selling a chrome bull bar, lmk! First things first, save your money on the bull bar. JMHO. Your question on the 17" rims is exactly why I am selling mine and moving DOWN to the 16" rims. More tire choices. |

id go with black wagon wheels. you can get a set from summitracing.com delivered to your door for 227.00. and looks much better than chrome. IMO. i had 18" foose chromes and it didnt help. "in fact they're for sale" i think the KJ deserves smaller rims bigger meats. IMO. well, whatever you have planned, i hope to see pics and have fun doing it! |

Yeah, on the bull bar, she likes a little bling, and she really wants lights just as long as they have yellow KC covers. I know I know, shes cute. I like the bull bars a lot better than the full brush front ends, and the jeep just isnt going to be macho enough for something like the (ARB?) pro-farm style full steel rock crawler ront ends or what have you. I might consider just mounting the lights to the bumper, though. Tire choices arn't a huge concern, atleast for AT tires. And I'm thinking that deal is pretty sweet on the chrome 17's. I don't have to have them, but for the price I was gonna snag em up and see how much rubber I can fit on them =) |

So... the most common size that folks say will fit is the 245/70/R16 because it's the largest in many of the AT models that will fit, but several on the board have 235/75/R16s unlifted with good results. That's a smidge taller than the 245's so you can use that to base your calculations and compare to R17 meat. Worst case you can always get a small spacer lift to add a bit or clearance if you absolutely must go larger. |

Quote: I read here that the 02's sit higher out of the box than any other year. If it was made before April 12th 2002 then it sits 3/4" higher then the later made KJ's.But that may not hold true to a 2wd only KJ since it's missing the front diff and all.

Just a little update! Got the 17's now, looking for some rubber. Considering 245/65/R17 Fuzion XTI's. Not a fan of the sidewall design, but at less than $100 a pop they look to be the best value. I had Fuzions on my Supra at one point and they were impressive for how little they cost. I belive they are made be BFG, just a different marketing swing? Decent tires either way. Got the front windows tinted - the color matches the factory perfect, couldn't be happier. I've also got my girl excitied about wheel spacers... didn't see that one comming. She actually asks about them and wants to get them ASAP. (I showed her the spidertrax 1.25 and pictures of them installed from soneone here on LOST) Hopefully I can get everything mounted soon and get some pics. |

Well that only took forever. I just stumbled over a pic I didn't know I took, so without further delay, my pretty much useless pic! Better to follow up late than never? =) 245/65/R17 BFG Rugged Trails on a pre-lowered 2002 KJ.

Those are what I wanted! I got the BFG's for free though, used from my work. Can't beat em for free, they were hardly worn and had no cracking, balanced perfect. When it comes time to replace them the Fuzions are top on my list. I had ZRis on my last car and liked them alot, esp for the price. I could spend a lot more and do silent armors, but It's hard to justify the extra $200. |
