Figured since the lower bumper was already cracked, why not. Came out pretty good I think :D

However, Ms. Liberty still was feelin a little down. So I took her to the nearest Jeep shrink and found out she still wasn't feelin good about herself.

She's feelin much better now 8)

FreeJeep- Where did you get the bar for the fog lights? I've thought about cutting my bumber but didn't want to lose my fogs.

what kind of front hitch do you have and did you install it yourself.. how hard is it.. i am thinking of taking off my brush guard and getting a front hitch.. make it easier to move my trailer around and i could get a winch that fits in receiver for hitch.. any ideas?

I made the bar for the lights. It's just 1" conduit that runs into the sides through holes. I made some brackets inside the bumper that keep the pipe from turning and sliding side to side. The bar and brackets are both mounted to the bumper internal bracing so they come off with the bumper. The wires also run through the pipe which helps protect them. I ran the lights to the existing fog switch on the turn signal arm via relay.

I'm still working on tweaking the brackets as there is not much room in there and they don't allow the bumper to go on exactly perfect (talkin maybe 1/8" or so). I'll take some pics when I take it back off to adjust.

If I were to do it again, I would move the bar about 1" forward for more rear light clearance. Also, if I had a welder, I would probably skip the holes and weld 2 plates to the ends of the pipe to bolt the whole thing in place externally.

My front hitch is a Draw Tight brand hitch. Went on real easliy once I had the bumper shell removed. Some people said they installed it with the bumper in place, but I found it was easier to remove it. I love it, much more versatile that tow hooks IMHO.

I'll put together a detailed write-up with pics and part #s in the near future.

But then we wouldn't have the fun of pulling of the bumper and putting it back on--and playing with the rivets. And dinging up the fog lamps, etc.

I've been debating doing this as well. My front bumper is shot too.

Did you work on the KJ or remove plastic and work on bench?

I did all the cuting in place. Figured that it was easier that way and no surprises when I put the bumper back on.

The roof rack came from a guy on E-bay who custom makes um. It comes unfinished and was somewhere around $250. There is more info on the rack and more pics in this thread:

Great idea for the light bar. I am going to go with that but I will have some feet mounted so I don't have to mess with cutting the holes. I caught the bumper cutting bug when I saw Steakgoddes bumper. I think me, the dremel and the sawzaw are going to have a long talk in the next week or so.
