Here's the problem. I just recieved my 50 series delta system from rusty's in the mail. I was looking at it and there is no flange to connect it to the cat. I was told that it is a bolt on system. Have I been misled? and on that note if it is not a bolt on system, do I have to cut the flange off the old muffler and clamp it to the new one? Also why did they give me 4 clamps? At best I only see a need for two.
I am going to call them on Monday in hope that they forgot to send me something. If not expect another post.
But first. Help me out with this issue please. I'd like to install it this weekend.

Not sure how they have it laid out but what I would do is, put in the tail pipe get it about where it is to go, install the muffler and then hold it up and see how far up on the old pipe it goes and the allow enough to go inside the inlet of the muffler and cut the flange off according.

Good Luck

It doesn't say on their site that they are "bolt-on". It does say that it includes heavy duty clamps. The pic also shows the system w/out the flange. I would guess that you will cut the exhaust at the flange and clamp the muffler to the pipe there and then clamp the tailpipe to the muffler. I guess that is kinda "bolt-on"..... :?

Rustys KJ Exhaust

Personally, I don't think it is worth what they are charging. I can get a flowmaster welded into my exhaust for $100 out the door at a couple different local shops. Add a tailpipe and it only adds about $50-75 and that is welded in.

yeah 250 is way to much for sure. if it were me i would take it to a muffler shop and have it welded on. most around here charge 40 bucks. u could also find a buddy that could weld and have him do it for u for a case of beer or something. heck i would do it for a case of beer

Yea, just cut it off before the flange.

I just bought the flowmaster for $90 and $10 in clamps/pipes to put it on. You may need to get some extra pipe from what I see in the pic. I got 2.5in ID on one end and OD on the other. The Muffler is 2.5in ID so one end of the pipe slides in it and the other end slides over the exhaust on the Jeep. Just make sure you dont cut the ID side of the pipe when you cut it to fit.

I kinda like the fact that the rustys kit drops it below the bumper with that tip. I couldnt use that offroad though..

so here's the issue at this point. The exhaust is on and it sounds great. I need to call rusty's and give them a piece of my mind. Not only is it not a bolt on but the exaust pipe was 2-3 inches too short. I went out and baught pipe and got everything to fit. Then when I took it for a test drive. When I took it out there was a wicked rattle. Found the rattle and it turns out that the middle hanger was so long that it was banging against the edge of the back of the fender well. I ended up going in and cutting it shorter.
It is no longer rattling and sounds great, but it gets my wicked pissed when they advertise and tell me that its a bolt on and I end up having to do fab work.
Don't get me wrong. I don't mind doing fab work, but if I wanted to fab ny own exhaust system then I would have baught everything seperite and saved the money. I'm just annoyed and ranting. Well see what they (rustys) say on Monday.

Just wondering, where did you see that it was bolt on? Did you call them and he told you it was or something? :?

You guys notice any performance change? Or just a better sound, I'm going for it either way, i've got a shope here in town that wants to put a Magnaflow on mine. But i've always used Flowmaster. And whats the main difference between the 50 SUV and Delta :?:

Thanks

SUV is alittle bigger and says it reduces on interior noise. Mine drones kinda bad around 75mph+. Doesnt bother me but passengers ask about it sometimes.

I didnt notice an increase in anything.

So to answer your question jeepjeepster. They told me on 3 different occasions that it was a bolt on kit. I just got off the phone with them and they told me that it was a bolt on kit and that there must be something wrong with my jeep. They also said that it was my jeep when I told him that the tail pipe was too short. The guy instead of working with me fought with me about how it was my jeeps fault for everything......Whatever you do DO NOT BUY RUSTY's OFF ROAD PARTS.....They are dishonest, not helpful and just plain rude. Go anywhere else.
PS this is not the first time they burned me. The first time was with the spacer lift I bought from them. It totally killed my suspension. (I know I should not have ordered from them again but I gave them the benefit of the doubt). Stupid me. Yes I am angry and Yes I am annoyed and Yes I think I have every reason to be mad. Again DO NOT BUY RUSTYS OFF ROAD......I'm pissed :x

Know what you mean about the above post went through that with them back in November of 04 they kept telling me I did not know what I was talking about , something was wrong with MY Jeep etc, after 3 months ....DUH...... they found out it was a problem on their end, never really admitted it but a new part finally showed up that worked and they said just keep the old one!

How the heck would something be wrong with your Jeep? Its the exhaust and all of them are the same on the libertys.

Just by looking at the pic, you can tell its NOT bolt on as there isnt any kind of flange.

2 things. 1) he told me that it is a bolt on but some jeeps have a flange and some don't. 2) I know that it does not show it in the pics as a bolt on but I did not know how accurate the picture was and they told me it was. I sadly trusted 3 people who work there over a picture. stupid me.......aside from all that the thing was 2 inches short. Hoe do you design a system and sell it to the public 2 inches short and then say "its your jeep, there's something wrong with your jeep, not our product". PS This conversation I had was with Rusty of Rustys off Road. and this was all before he yelled over me and then hung up on me

It seems some people don't consider good customer service as part of their business. Imagine you place an order and more than a year goes by and no product.

So it seems as though a lot of people are un-happy with rustys or at least been burned by them one way or another. What can we do about it? boycott? letter? BBB? any thoughts?

Ahh, I wouldnt mind to see them die off. They dont make anything good for the liberty anyway so what would it matter?

I use their front springs but just because they fit my needs. Thats the only thing Ive ever bought from them and its the last.

FYI Guys and Gals,

This is a copy of the email I just sent to "PowerBlock TV"

I could find an email for rusty's (That should give us all a clue as to their customer service) so I sent a warning to Powerblock TV about his tatics and told them they should be concerned that their programs are listed on his website.

Email to PowerBlock TV and their Advertising Department with a link to this post at the top:

http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=28932&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

The above link is to a VERY enthusiastic group of Jeep Owners who are very passionate about their rigs and the mods they spend their hard earned money on.

The above link references an item that was purchased from an individual who lists your TV shows on his web site.

Several of the shows you produce (i.e. TRUCKS!! and Extreme 4x4) have mentioned these guys before and contributed to their bank accounts via the wallets of many people. I have been hearing about Rusty's customer service and his arrogance for some time. I know this is not the image you want associated with your programing.

I suggest that you look into your association with Rusty's Off Road before you highlight any more of their products.

Rusty is a rude and arrogant and border line dishonest individual and does not deserve to be in business and your shows just help him out.

Thank you and I love your shows, much to the dismay of my wife.

A small story lead would also be this organization, LOSTKJ's or www.LOSTKJS.com

Thanks ,
