Post subject:  Chrysler Parts Supplier Fails

It was just announced that Plastech just folded. (http://www.usatoday.com/money/autos/200 ... tech_N.htm) Chrysler is shutting down a few plants including Toledo. For us folks who already own KJs (&I have an XJ too) I wonder if it will mean a shortage of repair/replacement parts? I wonder if there are any parts that I shlould store up as there may be future availability problems? Don't care if its only the plastic engine cover

Even if Plastech is closing, someone else will pick it up, the paint shop company folded at the main plant and somebody else took it over. Chrysler is not closing down Toledo plant, well just for a day or so, its happened before, so no long term shutdowns, just saying some maybe 3 to 5 days, where would they produce the Wranglers/ KKs, Nitros at? Its the only plant that produces them.

Dana shut down as well (the afternoon shift), thats what happens when you have on demand systems works great so no stock is sitting around , but one little glitch and everyone shuts down for 8/16 hours

As far as replacement parts there will always be places to buy them

The sky is not falling! only very overcast

The concept of parts on demand is great for business unless something like this happens and then you have the domino effect. Used to be they would have several days worth of parts to keep going, now one company can close down the world.
