Lifetime Alignments are a gimmick and heres why...They sell you the Lifetime for a higher price, OK , then what most people do is forget about it , 2/3 years down the road sell the car and its gone. Only like 10/15 % of the people who actually buy the Lifetime use it at all. Back in the early 80s I worked for Goodyear as a Store Manager and we got bonus points for the store to sell Lifetime Alignments knowing full well it was money in our pocket! As a matter of fact it was so worth it to me that for every 5 sold I would give whoever sold it a coupon for 20 bucks for a lunch/dinner
Plus everytime if they did bring it back in , we HAD to find something to sell them, so more money
Just be careful, as Grandpa said "if it sounds too good to be true, dont bend over when youre signing for it"
No offense to you or your Grandpa, but if a customer pays extra money for a lifetime warranty/service and then don't use it or take advantage of it, just how is it a gimmick? Sure, it's cost-effective for the store, but that doesn't make it a gimmick. It's like insurance: you pay your premiums and maybe you end up paying more into it than you ever get out of it. On the other hand, maybe you get a LOT more out of it than you ever pay into it. Again, it's no gimmick, it's just how much or little you end up using what you paid for.
Given your logic, pretty much anything bought or sold could be considered a gimmick.
