So i drove down to richmond, va from central NJ today for a job interview tommorow. I stopped to "walk the dog" in maryland and on the way back to the KJ looked underneath to see how the CV boot I replace about a month ago is doing. It had been fine to this point, but much to my surprise, I see a bunch of CV grease on the boot. OH SUGAR!!!! No strange noises, 2 hours into the 5 hour trip, can't turn back now. So I push on, I take it easy and listen for noises, all the while puckering my butt cause I don't really have money for a new CV and I'm supposed to drop $300 on the way back for rock rails and a skid.
So I stop for gas near richmond (did good on gas 15.6 mpg

). Pulling out of the gas station with the wheel turned and some small bumps i hear, crunch crunch crunch. OHHHHHHHHHHHH Sugar!!!!!!!!!!! Frick!!!!! So i finish the 15 min drive to the hotel, then head out to deliver my old rusty's springs to someone and see where some parts stores are. I get back to the hotel parking garage, jack up the KJ, take off the tire to see what the problem is.........bad seal, puncture....I clean off the mass quantities of grease and search search search. Finally I find a hole....a tiny one at that, all that darn grease!!!!
So i go crunch crunch crunch (only on while turning) to the auto parts store and pick up some cv grease, grease gun, needle, and some permatex spray and seal.
Back to the parking lot, slooooooooooooooowly inject the grease into the boot. If i went to fast the grease would squeeze out the top part of the gun and not the needle. So after about 45 minutes of that BS

I clean the boot with break cleaner and put on about 6 coats of the permatex.
CROSS YOUR KJ FINGERS FOR ME AND HOPE THIS FIXED THE PROBLEM. or its gonna be a loooooooooooooooooong trip home. Oh and cross them fingers that I get the job too!
mmmmmmmmm beer
