Post subject:  Strut plate template

Anyone have a template for the top strut plates? I currently have the Rustys full coil with an ARB and will be getting in my OME927 HD's very soon. I can have the machine shop at work cut me something out of stainless or clear anodized alum with no prob.

-I think I can safely add a 3/8" strut plate to the top and a 2 ring clevis without Al's A arms right? At least till I can save up more $$$ to do the arms. I dont really do any heavy wheeling...

well i decided to scrap the measurement idea and started fabricating 1/2 inch strut replacement plates... got them cut out and the pipe cut just need to do alot of grinding, some more cutting for the hole in the middle, and drill holes for the bolts and ill be done...

Half inch MAY be too big!! You only have so much bolt to work with and you want a good amount of threads left! I think rusty's is 1/4" which gives you 1/2" of lift. (I think they are 1/4")

I think you're right. The ones on my KJ are no more than 1/4".

if i increase the length and the diameter of the bolt for the strut plate the metal around the plate would give way before the plate or bolts would...

Yea but arent the bolts pressed into the strut assy? How would you change those?

well i ran into that problem and i think it would be alright if i welded them into place... it would then be one unit.
