Happy friday folks! ..Ok so guess what, I'm looking into lift my KJ! ..after adding the new larger grabbers and the Spidertrax wheel spacers to this beach buggy beast, I think it's only fair to complete the transition into a complete mean machine  right? Now, I know this subject has been beaten to death several times over here on this forum, so I guess the appropriate thing to ask is if anyone can direct me towards the URLs of helpful past discussions on this topic (ie what is needed as far as actual hardware of an OME lift/best place to buy, the different options available of the OME lift that would best-suit my (non-rock-climbing) "part-time sand warrior" ..along with any major issues that commonly follow a suspension lift w/wheel spacers that I should be concerned about) Hey..any insight from you guys would be so awesome..I've learned so much already from you all (hey..otherwise, enjoy the pics) thanks!

By the way, for the photo junkies on here (myself included!) here's the usual beach that I'll be on, along with some shots of my new tire/wheel spacer setup...

((sure the beach looks flat i know...but lotsa deep soft sand ruts to get to this spot))

Simon says....... Depends on what you want to do , but I would say OME 926s ( Mediums) for the front , could do a small clevis for a little more lift, depends on what struts you want , OME or Rancho, OME 948 for the rear same thing OME or Rancho struts
Numbers for the Ranchos front RSX 17505
rear RSX 17004

Most parts stores will price match shock/ strut prices

Call AllJs and talk to Heather and tell her what you want and she can also advise you plus all you will get on here as well.

By the ways yours is looking very nice!

I think the OME's are great, and that is a great way to go, but a RevTek or DayStar boost would do the same thing for half the price. Some claim that you get a better ride out of the OME lift, but you sure don't need it forthe extra flex travel...

anyways, my $.02

This is a re-post from an earlier post I did on where I got the individual compnents:

Others can chime in on getting 3 inches, but you will need OME NS131 front shocks
OME n132 Rear shocks or N132L Long travel shocks if going to 3 inches i think.

http://www.4by4connection.com/likjomesu.html Good price on springs and shocks

http://www.ok4wd.com/index.php/catalog/product/old_man_emu_nitrocharger_shock_absorbers_yellow/ Good price on Struts, UN assembled

http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/index.cfm?action=getJointLocator&siteid=214583&chapter=&sectionids=19,2512&groupid=20135&subgroupid=62231&make=17&model=Liberty&year=2007&catalogid=1&displayCatalogid=0 GOOD price on strut mount

http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/index.cfm?action=getJointLocator&siteid=214583&chapter=&sectionids=24,2788&groupid=20135&subgroupid=61752&make=17&model=Liberty&year=2007&catalogid=1&displayCatalogid=0 GOOD price on Rear Spring Insulators, if you need them, 2x upper and lowers. Other places to get fatter ones for more lift. other can chime in on those.

3" and over starts to put a starin on the A arms and starts putting a strain on the wallet too.

Get the front struts, HD Springs, mounts and insulators, take them someplace that has a STRONG strut compressor and sweet talk them into compressing and assembling them. read on here how to do it and announce the "Lift Party and some LOST members may come help out.

The Pizza and Beer tends to get expensive.....

think the above may be a little overkill for what she wants to do, doesnt need Heavy Duty springs, or all the other new isolaters etc

I'm not even sure if you need a lift as badly as you need sand freindly foot prints. years ago my father and I palying gofer built a '64 VW cut 15" out of the center and added a fiberglass body. Our first summer trip to Cape Hatterus resulted in even with very little air in the F-60/14 Good year tires bogging down in the sand needing to get pulled out by a "56 Chevy with cut fenders and sand tires. The next year we arrived with sand tire, (think racing slicks with 3 -4 smooth grooves down the center of a ballon tire.) We never got stuckin the sand again, the DuneBuggy was so light to start with I could lay on my back grab the rear bumper and bench press it. It was so light that you could only run 8 1/2 lb. of air in those F60-14 Goodyear Polyglass tires any more air and it slid alll over the road just couldn't retain traction. So if you want to play in the sand I can't blame you invest in a set of sand tires and cheap wheels. You will still have plenty of fun. Since moving to Colorado back in '78 the beach is my most missed treat during the summer. :(

Tom,

The post I posted before is meant as a list of suppliers I used for all the components. I assembled all the struts parts PRIOR to install. I found that the best way for Myself to do.

I am sure they do not need HD's but even you can look on the page that the links go to and see that the Mediums are also listed and are typically the same price. Stop nit picking and being a PITA.

There ya go, right in Jersey.
Nothing else to add, other than a front end alignment after you install the lift kit.

I see both your points clearly, just different perspectives.

Tom's perspective is stating fact, that the extra componets are not needed in order to save money.

Woody is coming from the perspective that, by buying the extra componets, he now has 2 complete front strut assemblies that would be easier to install, or uninstall, and swap back to stock if necessary.

Therefore, you are both "RIGHT" in your own perspectives.

A little explanation goes a long way, and solves misunderstandings.

For hard packed wet beach sand, I wouldn't think so either. But for soft sand or dunes, it couldn't hurt to have a mild OME (med. 926-947) lift to get those step rails up some. Besides, with an 03, new springs and shocks would certainly improve the ride perfomance, not to mention looking better.

If OK4WD installs the lift for you they will also do an alignment as part of the package, and will also give a free checkup of the lift and retightening of the nuts and bolts after a few thouand miles.

Thanks for the links! much-appreciated. There's a great suspension place near me that will probably install the kit.. waiting for them to get back to me with pricing. Anyway looks like it'll probably be a medium-duty OME, not HD because I have a stock bumper and no extra hardware weight. Is it true though that the front doesn't raise up nearly as high as the rear? (Having the front raised is much more crucial than the rear) If this is true..would it be safe to pair up a clevis lift for the front only with an all-around OME lift?

I would do a 2/3 ring clevis with the mediums and it should sit about level then and look really good
