Is this setup safe enough to do without using Als Uppers? Maybe I should skip the strut plate?

I was thinking of getting/making a 1/4 spacer for on top of the strut plate and adding another ring to my clevis to now have 3 in there but only if my UBJ isnt in danger.

Ill be swapping my Rustys coils for the 927's soon...

Thats a good question jdumont. I can not speak for the 927's but i do have the 926's with the rusty's strut plate and a 3 ring clevis and at full droop i have UBJ contact big time! Now i know that the 927's will give you a bit more lift but then again you have a 100lbs arb. I would recommend that the best solution would be to plut the strut plate in during the initial install and leave the clevis lift for a while and see how much the lift settles and then add a clevis lift if you think you need it. You say that you may fabricate a strut plate and just for a heads up the maximum you could go with the plate is 1/4" i believe (whatever rusty's sells), otherwise the bolts will be too short if you add anything thicker then that. The HD's will give you Lots of lift so maybe justa try the strut plate first and that way you will get big lift and probbaly not need the Al's uppers.

a longer bolt could solve the problem of not having enough bolt when finished... im currently manufacturing a 1/2 inch strut plate

Hey Josh, you really think ill get additional lift by switching to the OME927's from Rustys front coils? I do have the ARB so maybe ill get back to where I was when I first installed the Rustys...which would be fine with me.

Yes i think you will get more lift because your rusty's springs have probbaly sagged 1/2" to 1" with that arb. Now i would still recommend doing what i said in my previous post so you can add aditional clevis lift IF needed! The OME 927's will sag alittle but won't be as much as rusty's!

Yea I think thats what Ill do... Strut plate at first and no clevis. Then if necessary Ill just loosen the bolt and make some type of locking spacer to do the clevis without removing the strut.

Thanks for the help!

Strut plates should be here in a few days, OME927s also in a few days. Ranchos sitting in the living room ...... everything waiting for the weather to turn :(

but of course... One more thing before im off this subject though. Wouldnt the strut plate have to be considered as less "safe" for the struts than the clevis?

I am trying to get ahold of some of those terraflex bump stops so maybe it wont even matter... oh well. Thanks again

I 'm not sure if i know what you mean? Are you asking if the strut plates are going to hurt the struts comapred to the clevis lift? Or do you think it will be unsafe to insatll the strut plate compared to the clevis lift? I know that bigger strut plates like the one that RRO sells will eat up your struts after time (they are about 2") a 1/4' plate will not hurt them. And the plates are 100% safe as long as they are insatlled and torqued properly. After 500miles i would re-torque the strut bolts. Hope this helps...Not sure if i hit the nail on the head or not though!

Yea thats kinda what I mean. By safer I meant it from a systematic standpoint. Both must have their own pros and cons I was wondering if the strut plates are worth the potential aggravation that it may cause me down the line. I guess you saying that as long as I stick to the 1/4" I should be fine answered my question. Plus the bumpstops will get ordered this week also so I guess im worried for nothing....
