2003 sport 4x4 with automatic.

I have had my truck in to the dalers at least eight times in the past two years for hard / delayed shifting. The last time (three weeks ago) I was on my way home from work stopped to pay a toll and started back up only to find out it won't shift. The computer had gone into limp mode and the engine light came on, drove it directly to the dealer. Dealers answer for this was to flash the computer (which wouldn't take). They ended up replacing the TCM. Now I'm no mechanic But didn't the computer do the right thing by going into safe mode do to all the hard shifting? Anyhow they called after a week and said the computer was replaced, it was test driven and everything was fine. I went down to the dealer picked up my truck and drove no further than the corner before it felt like somebody ran into the back of me. needless to say I was less than happy brought it back and against me better judgment let them look at it again. this time it took them a week to call me and say the need to replace the front pump???? Can somebody tell me what the front pump is please and would this have any effect on the shifting. I am realy getting tired of this and that line about the tranny needing to learn is a bunch of bull. the computer when faced with a set of inputs/parameters will make the same choice every time. I am an electrical engineer / designer of extrusion equipment and factories and although I may not know the mechanical aspects of transmissions I do know that we use similar software and network communications. I would have to say I have been reading this forum for over a year and if anybody can give me a strait up answer it's you guys. Thanks in advance.

How reputabloe is this dealer? If the computer is still acting up, did they actually replace the computer?

I have never heard of a front "tranny pump". The pump is an internal part of the trans. The only thing up front is the cooler. It sounds to me like you are loosing pressure from the pump or your tourqe converter has taken a crap on you. There has been a few post about the tranny today, so you can see this is just one of the trouble parts on the KJ. To tell the truth I am not real impressed with mine because of all the little quirks. If the tranny could learn driving style than it would have learned by now that if it does not move I will make it move.
