After reading that I can have a converter built to my specs this leads me to my next question....anyone here swapped out a converter berfore? This is uncharted territory for me. I do realize the tranny has to be dropped but that is about it. Will replacing the converter with a better unit make the trans act better? I don't want a shift kit but I do want the sloppy and loose feeling to go way, especially when you hit 40 mph and the truck shifts and falls on it's face.

A torque converter wont change the shift points of the tranny. A computer flash by B&G Chrysler would help that though.

This I understand. I just want the trans to have a generally "tighter" feel to it. A upgraded converter can do wonders. To me the B&G flash is not worth it...that is what my (now the wife's d.d.) modded '07 ZX3 is for. :D

This is a tad off-topic, but for those, like me, who don't really know what a torque converter is but were afraid to ask:

The OEM torque converter is what went bad on me and killed my tranny a while back.

Call them and talk to Wayne. Give him the details of your Jeep, and how you want to use it and they will make the converter with the correct specs for you. It sounds like you would benefit from the shift correction kit for the 42RLE also. It doesn't cost much, so you might as well do it at the same time. For the 42RLE, it isn't a performance shift kit, so it isn't like a shift kit for a sports car like you're used to.
