It seems like this oil isnt talked about much on the forums. Everyone talks about Mobil-One and Amsoil but not one ever talks about Valvoline.

I always use Valvoline SYN in my brothers Jeep per his requirements and it seems like its crystal clear when I pour it out of the bottle. Mobil-One use to be like that but lately its been fairly dark when it comes out of the bottle.

Ive never had an interest in using the SYN valvoline since it was almost $6 per quart but here lately walmart started carrying the 5 quart jugs for $25 which means its $5 per quart. Mobil-one is $22 for the 5 quart jug so I only save $3.

I personally like Valvoline and always have. They have a main office thats just 20 minutes from me so I would feel like I would be putting money back into my home town which is always good.

Anyone have any info about Valvoline when its tested against other oils? I noticed that Amsoil doesnt include it in there testing on their website. :)

I have used Valvoline's 5w30 Durablend (syn-blend) with good results. Haven't used any of their full synthetics, but I was going to try their MaxLife synthetic, but it is pricey. I can get the 1 Gal jug of Mobil 1 Full Syn for around $22-23, depending on where I get it. Thinking of switching back to a synthetic blend because I don't drive too much and usually change my oil around 5,000 miles anyways.

I also have used the Durablend and it seems to work fine. I use the MaxLife in my wifes Pathfinder and like it as well.

If you are doing short oci's regular valvoline would be fine. But if you really want to pamper her, go with the syn blend or full synthetic. I hear the full syn is really good stuff....

I run Valvoline Full Synthetic in my wife's 01 Sebring... It needs to be synthetic because she forgets to tell me when the car is due for an oil change every once and a while. I've been running 5-30 VAL in it almost since it was new and the oil still looks clean and fresh.

I really think Valvoline is a top notch oil brand...

I've used them for full-syn gear oil in my diffs and am very happy with the performance. I typically use Rotella-T (from shell) full-syn for a motor oil since it's formulated diesel engines. The only think bad I can say about Valvoline is that the gear oil was kinda pricey.
