So, I'm a somewhat compulsive person. Little things that need fixing, like small oil leaks in cars, drive me nuts. I have a few spots near the oil drain of the KJ that are seeping and I feel like they shouldn't be. I'd love to know how y'all would fix them. They are:
- Smaaaall amount that appears to be coming out of a couple of the oil pan bolt holes (like there are four in a row and the third one is wet with oil). Do I simply re-torque it? Should I remove that bolt at the next oil change and put a little rtv in the hole?
- Moderate amount (but not quite enough to drip) that appears to be coming from the inside of the joint where the engine and tranny meet just to the rear of the oil pan(around the plate to which the starter motor is affixed. I fear this one is a lot more involved, but perhaps there's some re-torque-ing I can do there as well. This one's much messier as it seems to spread all over the bottom of the oil pan and attract dirt. Much more irritating to me for a low mileage vehicle.
Thoughts?
Dan
