I'm getting a leak from the front diff cover. I need to crack open the cover and re-apply the RTV. There is a few brackets bolt up to the diff that I need to remove first, is this a hard job? Is there an easier way to fix the leak? Topped off the fluid, it not leaking too bad.

No its not a hard job at all, just get it up in the air good and you will be able to see that only a few bolts, shouldn't take long at all.

You also have to drop the lower control arm, or at least that's what I saw having to do. The front diff has a brace/ skid looking thing bolted in front of the plate. Three easy bolts and one that will not come out without the LCA moved. To me it didn't look like the diff cover would slid out. I might be wrong though.

I just tightened up the bolts and the drain plug, havent noticed anymore leak. Let us know if you end up able to get the cover off without major effort.

later,
mike

Hopefully I don't have to take apart the LCAs! Looked in the repair manual, looks like there are 3 brackets that support the diff and the vent tube that needs to be remove.

Anything I should do while I have the cover open? Don't have 4.10 gears and a LSD on hand.

I start on it mañana. :D It should be a sunny 42F!!
