I searched for this a few times...lots of stuff but little real meat.

I'd like to find out what too much oil may do to my Liberty gasser's engine? What happens if the oil is 1/4"+ over the hashmarks and driven around for a little while?

Any info is appreciated! ... Past experiences welcomed!

Chris

It can foam up from being overfilled, loosing all it's lubrication. If overfilled enough it can be over the windage tray and the crank shaft at high rpm's can suck all the oil out of the oil pan(remember the old furyIII cop cars?),no oil pressure=bad for engine. It can over pressurize the crankcase by plugging the PCV valve.blowing seals and gaskets. Those are just a few.

Over pressurization is the one condition I'd be worried about. You can the risk of blowing the oil pan seal as the oil seeks to relieve the pressure...

Take it back to the shop you had it serviced at (or a different one even) and have them pull the plug to drain some of the oil. Get it done now

This would be a perfect application for one of the oil drain valves instead of a drain plug. Just crawl under, release the valve for a few seconds, reshut the valve. I almost installed one at my last change, but didn't get around to ordering it...
