ok, so the wave edition goes back to square one due to an accident today! turning left in an only lane at an intersection, the car turning right in the opposite direction colided with my passenger side rear door. i had the green arrow to go and the other person failed to yeild and turned into me. tore the door up pretty bad, im missing a fender flare, but the door structurally still opens! there is no intrusion into the interior at all! the rear window dosent roll all the way down but it is not broken and the door still opens and closes with a thunk! i believe this vehicle would do very well in a t-bone collision. the other car was a 1997 dodge ram. there is no structural damage and fotunately, the driver missed my wheel/tire, so no suspension damage that i can tell! no noises, no shimmy, i have the same amount of gas i had before the accident and brakes are great!! |

the kenwood as in the audio system is fine. my ipod is also doing well after the accident. im more worried about the whole thing than mad because ive yet to find out if that other vehicle is insured, and that will change everything if its not. i may say screw it and come to moab anyway and get it fixed when i come back... |

you had LEO come to the scene correct? made a report that the other guy was at fault right? If not, it may be all for naught. I learned my lesson once that you always need to have a cop show up before you EVER leave the scene, otherwise it will definitely turn into a he said she said situation with the guy at fault fighting tooth and nail to say you were the one at fault - and by then, there is no proof of who did what. Happened to me with my one month old KJ...the woman was 100% at fault...admitted so at the scene, but later changed her story to say I was at fault because she had zero damage on her minivan. I preyed on her good conscience and her hormones since she was 8 months pregnant and she eventually changed back and turned it over to her insurance carrier. I was prepared to eat the whole thing as I hung up on her and told her how sorry I felt for her that she didn't know the difference between right and wrong especially now bringing a child into the world - a real good example she would be for teaching that child what's the right thing to do. She called back ten minutes later and stated that she made the claim with her carrier....anyhow, HER insurance company found her at fault 100% too, and to the tune of $1000 for fixing my front bumper, quarterpanel and light. I'll never leave a scene of an accident without a full police report and witness statements again. |

lets talk about how aurora PD dispatch said no police officer was coming out because both vehicles were driveable. i dont care what happens so long as my car gets fixed. they can find me %150 percent at fault, i dont care as long as my car is fixed |

Another reason to always keep a digital camera in your vehicle. Accident report forms, and get witnesses names and numbers and have them write a statement and sign it. |

Estimate to fix the damage: $2,631.73 thats including the vinyl work for jazz it up auto to redo the wave. so far we have yet to find out if the dodge dakota has insurance so ive got to come up with the $100 for a deductable so far (no fair!!!). moab is cancelled, the jeep goes in for repairs on the 31st of march for about 7-16 days with no rental car, im only 20. pics r coming... |

I don't know about CO, but UT is a no-fault state. When I got into my elbow-shattering wreck in Dec 07, there were two drivers at fault yet my insurance still got dinged for $4K. The first $4K goes against each party's insurance by state law no matter whose at fault. Any overages can be fought over by the ins companies. BTW, I was a passenger in an airport shuttle on the way to the airport and my auto insurance STILL had to be involved!!! I am sure your KJ will turn out fine. Remember, a wave cannot truly be measured until it collides with something. |

I am glad that you are alright! When I got in my wreck on 6.26.07 (dodge charger, with a hemi hit me at 55mph, on a 40mph road and I was at a dead stop!), I have been going to physical therapy since then. I have major back, knee, kneck pains and I had to quit my job, at the Gap, which I loved b/c it was easy, easy money. If I had been smart, I should have left my stock plastic rear bumper on and waited the couple months for my RL rear, but I didn't and insurance took out almost $300 for that darn stock plastic rear piece. I am glad that you are alright, but I hope you got checked out by the EMT or doc. or something! No one knew that my back hurt, not even me, until I had my MRI's and now I have grade 2 (out of 5) scoliosis, and have to have $2000 back, knee, kneck injections every 3 months. THANK GOD FOR INSURANCE!!! Just make sure that you are really okay!!! |
