Giving you a hard time, is it? The first time I changed my oil I thought, "this thing is busted". But now I know how it's made it's no problem. I have seen user-friendlier designs though. |

I needed a freakin' flat head screw driver to get that thing off today! |

WTH? how can you possibly have trouble with that enormous cap? it's huge, and easy to turn! I love mine. More to the point...how in the heck would a screwdriver help? |

I love mine. More to the point...how in the heck would a screwdriver help? I put two hands on it and tried to turn it with all of my might... It budged, but only 1/4inch turns at a time... at one point I got it so I couldn't turn it any more, and tried pulling up on it. Didn't work. I pried it a little by putting a flathead screw driver in between the cap and the filler tube, turned the screwdriver just a little bit... Then it came right out. |

Weird. Your first oil change? Some overzealous knob may have overtightened it when he put it on. |

I notice on my KJ the oil cap is harder to remove when the engine warmed up,it comes right off when the engine is cold. |

Mine does the same thing. It seems to come off crooked every 3k miles when it's time for an oil change. Screws right on fine though. |

Ditto but a couple times I used my giant channel locks to turn it even when cold. Sucker gets tight at times....weird. |

I just took mine off after I drained out all the oil. What a waste of money spending it on oil. It's over rated. |

Mine is stuck all the time. I can usually man handle it with both hands but last time I couldn't budge it. I used the oil filter wrench. BTW, beep beep. Do you have any more pictures of your jeep, looks good I want to see more? Also how did you get 3.5 of lift? |

I've noticed mine gets harder to turn each time I change the oil. First few changes when the Jeep was brand new, it came off no problem. I had a rough time getting it off during the last change 2500 miles ago (at about 26,000 and two years old). |

So, obviously there's a difference in the CRD and gasser fill caps. MIne works fine (pretty much screws on and off when I want it to) What exactly is the issue with the gasser model? |

That's what I do too, works great. No more cussing! dgeist, some of these oil filler caps are stiffer than (insert crude analogy) to turn to get off. I haven't tried turning it when it's cold, maybe that's the way to go. I usually like to drain the oil when it's a bit warm, especially in winter. That way my hands don't freeze quite so quick.... |

i am going to try an idea that a fellow member did on here... cut the top off of a 2liter coke bottle and cut till i can comfortably unscrew the oil filter and no mess at all! also... don't beat me oil gods, but is it alright if i go about 200-400 miles over my oil change? no time this weekend to change it, and i'm almost at 50K, which is my next interval change. |

BTW, beep beep. Do you have any more pictures of your jeep, looks good I want to see more? Also how did you get 3.5 of lift? I didn't think of trying an oil wrench... I'll do that next time! Also, my lift is a Rusty's 2.5" lift (rear rancho shocks) with 2 extra iso pads in the rear, and 4 clevis rings in the front... Comes out to about 3.5" total... Really nothing fancy about it, I was just tired of seeing all that extra crap in my sig, so I shortened it I do have more pictures in a few different places, I can post a few here or if you have myspace you can check out www.myspace.com/arcenite |
