I have this minor but really irritating electrical noise that occasionally comes through the tweeters at the top of the dash - it's like electrical interference, but kind of has that "Morse Code" sound (dot dot dot.....dot...dot dot). I have the RB1 nav/radio. I'm taking it in on Tuesday, but I know they won't be able to replicate it. I thought it might help if anyone knew the potential cause of the problem before the service advisor writes down "strange noise from tweeters" or something equally non-descriptive. Oh - and you don't have to have any volume for this to occur. Only power to the head unit. Thanks for any help. |

I haven't had any issues with my tweeters, but I really want an RB1! To try to minimize your EMI you should try some noise suppresion filters. Most audio / stero shops will have them instock. That should cure your problems. |

I have the same problem, though it seldom happens. It happened when I had my factory 6 disc changer, and now when I have the alpine head unit, so that's not the culprit. My guess is the wiring or the fact that there are no crossovers (or if there are they're very crappy, as my tweeters get a lot of bass sent to them) |

I get that noise too but it is from my cell phone going through the speakers. When I got my new digital cell phone I had that specific noise too. I didn't know what the h*** it was. Then when I was watching television, this noise came through those speakers also. I don't know if the cell phone towers put out some sort of stronger signal every once in a while but that's just my findings. See if that would be the culprit for you, THE CELL PHONE. P.S. The phone is on standby, I was not on talking or dialing. |

Thanks. Yes, I have a Motorola Razr with me at all times. Since I'm thinking about adding a bluetooth system, I wonder if that will just make things worse? Would some kind of noise filter work for this type of interference? I just noticed today that the same noise was actually on my cell phone (much softer, though) when I was talking on it this morning. Thanks for the advice! |

As long as it has the smart chip, is going to do it. I don't carry my phone much anymore. That really made it quiet. |

So is this kinda like the old "pop a tape in the deck and listen to your enigne's combustion" on an old car with crappy plug wires? MHO, get a set of GOOD aftermarket speakers installed, powered with a quality amp, WITH GOOD wires run through the whole thing. I get an annoying tick through my speakers when my turn signal's on and the radio's on-my Pioneer deck isn't to blame. waitin on my buddy to get my new Alpines and wiring in so i can finally hook this puppy up. Just remember: good wires=less noise. |

Yeah - my brother had one of the early 80s Nissan 300ZXs. It's "inner woman" would always greet you with "OIL PRESSURE IS DANGEROUSLY LOW." He put up with her for two years before divorcing her for a hot, topless Celica! Ms. Celica didn't talk back or lie! |
