not going to happen until after the election. Bil Oil is loving the higher prices and we all know Bush is friends with Big Oil. EVen the tax relief plan is going to end up in Big Oils pockets. I smell a conspiracy |

For me I'd be spending more money than I'd see on the return so it's a bad proposition. 1) My Jeep is paid for. 2) The price of Diesel is around $4.00 a gallon 3) Insurance 4) Accessories for new Vehicle Diesel is a great alternative, but I am going to hold on to my Jeep as long as I can. It'll hurt at the gas pump for a few years sure... But it is better than shelling out $300.00+ in car payments and trying to pay for gas at the same time. If the Chevy Volt ever makes it to market.. Then I'll reconsider a car payment. |

Don't forget that 41 to 42% of BigOil is owned by you if you have 401K, Mutal Funds or the like...so don't bash "Big Oil" to much. |

Honda is leasing hydrogen fuel cell cars and building hydrogen refueling centers in california. The future is here. We just need some investors to come in and start backing the infrastructure changes required. |

Sigh. But to be on-topic, I wonder if Chrysler's abrupt departure from Daimler is going to change the supply of any or all of these vehicles/engines? And to be directly to the point of the article: How ironic is it that the same people screaming for better mielage are the ones keeping these diesels out? |

ok, I am not trying to get into a political debate but really Congress and the White House have been in bed with Big Business including Big Oil for years. None of them have the incentive to make change for the betterment of this country. It's all about the money and the power for them. Seems that Tax Relief program was voted on by Congress and signed by Bush but I know I won't be spending my $300 on boosting the economy, I have food and gas to buy and bills to pay. Now if they threw me $1000 I might be convinced to buy a lift! No more of this..let's talk Jeeps! |

The problem with hydrogen is that it takes a bunch of electricity to "crack" water and produce hydrogen. Electricity which is most often produced from coal which is a bad word even though the new technology makes for a very clean burn. |

Comes from good ol kentucky(some of it) and it gives me a job! And you are correct, coal can be burned very clean now-a days which hurts mines around here. Our coal is low in Sulfur but now they can remove the Sulfur Dioxide by use of 'scrubbers.' They can mine coal thats high in sulfur at a lower cost and at less depths. I say electric with a motor at each wheel. Choo Choo |

"Big Oil" is a business. They make a lot of money because people buy a lot of their product. Take public transport if you don't like buying their product. |

big 10-4 on that big fella. If you don't like gas prices...quit buying gas. I'll continue to drive my gas sucking rattletrap until it croaks, then I'll buy another one. The answer is not to put automakers out of business, it's not to give $600 tax advances to people...it's called personal conservation. Now, I DO agree that it's REALLY CRAPPY that we don't get these cars that WE BUILD here. I'd love a diesel 300, or patriot. a diesel KK would be best, but we don't exactly have a whole lot of options. the EPA is out of control. |

Fuel prices will continue to be the same at the pump regardless who the President is. Money is Money, it burns either way.
