riptricket wrote: what is this, front of oil pan.... Well without seeing all the way above that area in the pic you could have a leaking rear main seal(engine) or a leaking tranny input seal.

Is the fluid red or brown? If its red then its probably the tranny input seal like tjkj said. If its brown then its probably the rear main. Pretty common problem on the I-6 engines Jeep use to use. One of our I-6's has been leaking from that seal for years. Keeps the under body nice a rust proof. |

Keeps the under body nice a rust proof. For one thing he doesn't have an I6. It's a v6 For anotherthe 4.0 I6 only had leaky rear mains when DC used an all aluminum block. Once they went back to a cast block that all stopped. Most of the I6 leaks came from the oil filter mount. Cheap 50.00 fix. I had 3 XJ's two with the I6's and NEVER had any leaks except for the 96 XJ that leaked from the oil filter mount. The 85 had a v6 2.8 GM piece of Crap and it did change it's own oil every 2,000 miles had to add a quart. Two piece rear main seal on th piece of crap. I would not get too freaked about it. I not a huge leak. Are there any spots on the driveway? What color? Seapage is normal. If it is not activley dripping, a tiny bit of seapage will look much worse than it really is. What does the drive way look like? Noticable fluid loss? Tranny or engine oil? Did you just have the oil changed? That is the drain plug there right? Could it just be Blow Back from the drain plug? |

well i didn't have to pay now... just when it is done. so to make sure... the deductible means if it is upto $100 i don't pay, and if it is over $100 i pay $100, but they pay the rest? still a college kid here, learning how the world turns! |

still a college kid here, learning how the world turns! But you still will have to pay. Even if they don't find anything but blow back they will have shop fees, EPA fees, Suppliy fees... Good luck. You might just have spent 100 bucks on shop towels. |

okay.. so he calle dme and said that i had a main oil seal leak and some other oil leak that is coverd under warranty, just need a $100 deduc. and oh yes there is an and my brake cylinder has a broken line or something and i need to replace the master brake cylinder ... i think is what he said, and it is almost $300.. YI "FREAKING" KES |

So they broke the master cylinder fixing the leak. I would look into that alittle before I gave them $300. Ask to see the part and make sure it was broke before. I cant really think of anything besides the brake lines that come out of the master cylinder. There is a connector on it with some wires too. Besides that there is a vacuum line coming out of the booster. |

I'd tell them to hold off on that and take it in to a local smaller shop and have them look at it. something under warranty is one thing but that's totally different. I don't see the master cylinder needing to be replaced just yet but I could be wrong! |
